Some great flying taking place today. Henry Caldwell, Curtis Youngblood, Jason Krause, pilots from the Mexican group were laying it down big style today. Then we had Ron Lund flying his Raptor 50 without a tail rotor. Also the auto contest with the Blade 400. This little heli can take the abuse and keeps asking for more. I saw them straigten the blade spindle several times. LOL Well I would post more, but my sides are hurting from laughing so hard. Debian Dog should have some great videos posted later. Also takes to Nathan Spencer for hosting the event at his house. Just so you know, Nathan has 10 acres and it is flat with no trees in sight.

Well I think that it was a good turn out for the first day. I didn't want to fly cause of all the wind but it didn't stop the good guys. Hopefully it won't rain tommorow and the wind will calm down and more poeple will come. Thanks to everyone thats showing up.

Yep, Friday was fun! JustPlaneLiz and I got out there around 10am and nobody was flying. I wasn't too sure about flying in that much wind (20mph with 26mph gusts, according to local weather) but I put up the Dragonus anyway. Turned out it was not that bad! The big surprise was how my 475g modified Honey Bee King V2 handled the wind. Silly fun. :)
It was great to put faces to some of these screen names (even if some of those faces are scary LOL)
I can't compete with Clint's high-tech room, but we are staying in a rented condo right on the beach at Port Aransas.

Great day today. Wind blew about 15 mph all day. Sunshine and temps in high 70's. About 5PM rain clouds rolled in, so we all retreated to Ron's Heliproz South for the BBQ dinner. Was about 70 people at dinner. Menu was most excellent selections. Highlight of the evening was seeing JK land a Trex 500 inverted on a rolled up garage door. The heli held to it with negative pitch while the door was pulled down and then the heli held against the door vertical. Then punching off the door and landing on the floor. Should see some pictures and videos following shortly.
Thanks to Ron and gang for the all the hospitality. The gang from Heliproz in Montana was also in attendance. Looking forward to next years event and best of wishes for continue success to Ron's Heliproz South.

15 mph? That must have been before I got there! It was blowing 28mph when I left the hotel, and the one flight I got in today was brutal. I guess I left the dinner too soon, I'd love to have seen that trick with the 500. :)

JK mounted on a garage door panel. One pic with him finding the clearances, one with Ron about to close the door, and one where he is stuck to it!!!

Had a great time. The weather turned out decent if you don't mind a little wind. Next year I will try not to take a dirt nap:). I am looking forward to next year. Thanks again to Ron and the gang.
It was a great pleasure meeting the "Farmer" and the "Auto Body and Tow Truck man". Enjoy your new heli's.

Thanks to everyone who helped get my t-rex 600 in the air for the first time. I needed tons of help and it was all freely and readily offered.
This beginner REALLY appreciates you all.
Since I live in Corpus Christi, I am used to this crazy wind.
Thanks Ron, you are the man!

We made it back to Monterrey in one piece. The customs guys wanted to keep the helis for himself, but we fought back with a vengance. 3Dx Show them how to do the dance.
They let us go. LOL
We had a great time, our Sombreros off to Ron and his crew. Nice meeting you all.
Thanks to Chris for supporting Rons endavour.

Well several people had a wind meter at the field. Everyone of them was registering 15-17 mph most of the day. I stood with Curtis while he was measuring the wind with his Kestral wind gauge. It was 15mph and got as high as 17mph. The wind never really got more stronger till about 5pm when the front moved thru.
