Well let me start by saying I checked double checked and triple checked before my first flight...

I was all prepped and ready to start my heli, my spotter checked; the hobby store checked my setup and gave me the thumbs up to go for it...

- Primed the engine, attached the glow and started the heli
Flooded the engine, removed glow and cleared the fuel

- Primed the engine, attached the glow and started the heli
This time it started and OMG the engine ramped up to full speed, luck my have it that I had a really firm grip on the rotor head and managed to wrestle the fuel line off the carburetor and the heli wound down. This tore the main gear and the clutch bell lining to hell.

What went wrong?

Spotter had the controler and flipped the kill switch just like I told him to if things went wrong, that was not the problem…

Then I took the heli apart and looked and looked and looked and what the issue could have been.

Then OMG!!!!!

THE THROTTLE SERVO WAS REVERSED…. Dead stop was full power and full power was dead stop.

How could I have missed that, I am kicking myself for not seeing the plain obvious.

All I have to say guys/ladies Double check triple check and then have a friend and a heli guy look at your expensive model before you fly. If I had not gotten a firm grip on the main rotor I would be in hospital today.

On to the next lesson, I won’t do that again.

Don't worry your not the only one that has a had a "hot start". I to have shared your pain but the only thing that I messed up was the linning and bell housing for the clutch on my hawk pro.

Whenever I build a new heli (E-heli) after I get it all setup, I pull the head and tail blades off and spool up. Then I put on the tail blades and spool up holding the heli in my hands to make sure gyro is working right. If everything is working right, then I put on the head and spool up yet again to make sure everything is balanced and not vibrating too much.
Then I take it out and maiden it, even tho by this time, its hardly a maiden. but at least there are no surprises. ;)
Glad you didn't get hurt.
