The Vstabi units that recently started shipping with the USB adapter have the IC sensor. This sensor has a different tail calibration then prior units. The IC sensor selection is made in the Expert Tail Menu.

There is also an AOF sofware plugin, available at vstabi.de, pre-configured for the Logo 500 and 600, for those that understand more then me.;)

I had been using the old parameters untill I found out about this, and am in the proccess of re-trimming the tail on my Logo 600 3D.

Hi RJohn,

I changed mine over to the IC sensor (85) and found little difference. The tail behaves a little bit better but nothing radical. I still have to tame the tail stop but I doubt that I will even try that until I get the rolling left during a back flip figured out. :)

Look at your values for the Torque Compensation for collective and cyclic.
Also, if the set up on this is reversed, it will correct in the wrong direction causing the tail to pull or push the wrong way when it tries to compensate. If that makes any sense. lol

Hi Ticidytoc,

To avoid a hijack on RJohn's thread, please read this thread at the V-stabi forum.

It will give you an idea of what we have done so far. A few more things to try... :)

Ticidytoc,
Collective and cyclic all add right compensation, are you saying that you can some how add left compensation?

Thats not light reading. Looks like you got it covered there. I'm moving on............:P

Cptsnoopy,
Can you send or post a copy of Matt's file?

Yes, you can actually set it up incorrectly and the tail will still continue to hold but the tail compensation will be in the wrong direction.

I can see how this can easily be overlooked if you are not paying attention to the setup. I thought I would throw that out there just in case.

Matt

PS:
Easy way to tell if its working in the right direction is to crank the compensation values up. then add collective and see if its feeding in the correct pich to the tail.

rename the file by removing the .xml.zip and leaving the rest in a folder that you can navigate to on your computer. let me know if it does not work correctly.

That file does not open for me? Weird....

SO without having to read that entire thread you are saying to click on "ic sensor" in teh expert tr menu and they are saying that is optimum?

I don't think I did that to be honest and my tail was behaving ok. What all has to be "re done" or calibrated once doing this anything?? Looking at it in my program on my desktop only thing it appears to change is the rate correction value from 64 currently to 85.

Yes, and we're not sure. Doing test flights to figure it out.

The rate correction value is the only thing that changes. It does not seem to make a large change in behavior. Only do this if you have the newer sensor that is built to handle the nitro heli's. I am sure that if you received a V-Stabi with the mini USB plug in the box instead of the older straight pin connector then you have the newer IC sensor. If your unit is older then you may have either one.

To download the mattbotos file you need to right click on it and click "save link as" and rename the file from "attachment.php" to mattbotos or whatever you want.

Ok well that being said I do have the newest one then as mine was a vbar/heli kit and has the firewire connector yes. Ok so you do not need to do anything other then simply activate this then and it is seen as an improvement in the eyes of ulrich etc for the Logo 500/6003Ds'?

Hmmm good thing we got you guys living in warm places, -24 here and I can't try anything out, very jealous here guys.

The bright side is you guys will have it all figured out for us winter peeps!!! :rolling

P.S. Tried to DL that file several times, no save link as, only save as and renamed etc, my office or zip will not open it as it states not valid archive,,,, :(

Shawn, simply rename the file without the ".zip" so its just "v-bar mattbotos1.xml" , then just open with the v-bar soft.

It doesn't open for me period dude, and when the window opens there is nothing in it, lol.

I think I got something messed up with my winzip as it still wants to open with winzip even after renaming it and using vstabi to open it.... good grief....

The AOF does wonder to how it flies.
It eliminates elevator "bobbing" making crisp and fast stops.

Its not just for the new Vstabis though, I have been using the AOF plugin for my old a while back.

On the L6003D do you use the standard 6003D selection for the AOF Fredrik or do you use Tom and Maxs'?

Who is Tom and Max, and were do you find their filter?

I recently ran the Vstabi in my Ion, so I had to use my own setting.
the AOF plugin (standard in the latest software) is depending on helicopter size and weight, so a setting for a lightweight 6s setup might be different from a 10s setup, as well as if you run stiffer blades with stiffer heads the setup differ from a soft head/softer blade setup.

I noticed the AOF was an absolute necessity using Daniel's parameters and 620mm blades, it does indeed clean the elevator axis right up.

The AOF thingy really helped my setup.

I tried Matt's cyclic setup which works well. He must use 3700s because with the 5350 the heli wanted to keep tumbling after the stick was stopped. Added 5 points to the Elevator Stop, which made the stop more precise.

AOF here:

Got the version number and link? I wasn't sure where to get the "official" version.
