I installed the 401 and followed Finless Bob's instructions to the letter. When I plug in I have a blinking light which turns solid in a few seconds. However, after flying for a few seconds, it begins blinking again. Is this normal?

Can you describe your radio setup? You need to fully understand the use of the gear (or AUX) channel to control gyro gain and choose whether it is in heading hold or rate mode. Usually, if you get the solid light you are in heading hold. If it then starts blinking the typical culprit is that you changed flight modes, IE from throttle-hold to normal or idle up, and your rudder trim is different between those modes.

I did switch to idle up. My radio is the Futaba 6ex. So given that, is the blinking normal?
Thank you

It will blink when rudder input is being applied. Try it on the bench. Once rudder goes back to center it should stop. If it doesn't then you may have rudder trim being applied in a different flight mode. Make sure there is no trim in any of the flight modes and remember that each flight mode has its own trim settings so you will need to adjust each one.
