Got my pinion today & inspected how it's put together. Read before some people had their pinion halves separate.

I noted which way the forces run in the gear. The top half of the pinion forces the main gear down therefore forcing the top half of the pinion up and vice versa for the bottom half. That means the 2 pinion halves are forced apart! Why didn't Mikado reverse the direction of the teeth so that the 2 halves are forced together instead??

Kev, i might be wrong but looking at it, it seems the torque from the pinion pushes on the arches of the gear creating a better loading moment on the teeth. I'm pretty sure they would've done their homework on this and originally i thought it looked funny but it would seem that's the best way to transfer the power to the gear. Stop worrying about it and get that bird in the air

I couldn't work it out whichever way I looked at it so I gave up ! It seems that only Shawn and I have had this prob so I agree with the advice to get the bird in the air !
