View Full Version : Logo 600 3D or TREX600E Durability vs Fly-ability

I believe I have narrowed my next heli purchase to the Logo 600/500 3d or the TREX600E. I have a TREX450SEV2 and TREX600N Pro.
I am concerned about durability of the Logo, and the cost of parts. I've seen and heard of several incidences of catastrophic breakage with Mikado Helis. But, I've also heard great things about the way the Logo flies. Also, I have a Neu 1515 2d that I'd like to use. Is anyone using that in a Logo?
Either way, my set-up will likely look like this:
Neu 1515 2D
Jazz 80-6-18
JR 8717 Servo x3
JR G770 w/DS8900G Servo
Spektrum AR6200
Opinions, experience, advice, sugestions?!?!?!

Logo 6003D flies beautifully - light - buoyant and great fun - looks elegant and graceful - not made to crash - parts can be hard to find and probably 20-50% more than TREX.
TREX600 is tough as an old army boot - can be made to fly well on 8 or 10S and parts are cheap and plentiful.
You pays your money and takes your choice - best to get both !! If you can't do that get the LOgo and stay within your envelope.

Hi,
I have been flying Heli for almost three plus years and last one year begining to try to go into more Acrobtaic move. I have experience E-550 and many 450 size heli. But I can say the moment I took the Logo 500 3D up with an 550 blades, it is so stable and agile when I want it to.
I have only one carsh since I move got the Logo 500 and now convert to Logo 600 VSTABI, it is the best heli and give me a lots of confidence to take on loearning more acrobatic move when I always in the past wasn;t sure if my heli is setup properly or is it my dumb tumb. Now I have a very good idea with the Logo 500 + 550 blades or Logo 600 + 600 blades whether it is my tumb that is cause the issue. And in most case it was my tumb and I work on correcting it.
Also the light weight and free up loan with VSTABI, give the heli lots of power to make recovery move easier to execute as compare trying to reciver from an E550 with similar power system setup.

T-rex 600's feel like flying bricks to me now after tasting the power to weight and precision of a 6003d.
Buy the rex if you're crashing on a regular basis, buy the logo if you can fly !
No comparison at all in flight performance, the logo is so much lighter and stiffer.

I'm just flying a RC heli for one year.
And i love it btw, especially the performance types :).
Before that I've flown different kind of planks, most of them custom made and self designed, some custom scale.
My approach on the hobby has never changed though.
I never fly a model with the intention to crash it....
In other words, i always try to stay within my envelope and try to improve while doing that and stretch my envelope slowly and steady.
Crashing really hurts, not just in my wallet ;)
So when i invest in a new model, i want the best flying model my hobby budget can afford.
How a model flies/performs is easy to see, plenty of videos around with setup specs included...
IMO If you really like them, and can afford to fly the LOGO's, and think like me, why look at other E-helis of the same size?
If the question is about durability without crashing, the Logo will win with ease IMO...
My choice is made, now save some money to actually buy one :D

seen and heard of several incidences of catastrophic breakage with Mikado Helis
Where did you see this?
Ive seen issues with the main gear stripping, but far worse stuff with the t-rex (main grip issue for sample)
Anyway, Ive owned both brands, I sold my 10s T-rex 600E, Logo's are the top of the line when it comes to electrics. I logged over 450 flights with my Logo 10 3D without changing anything except one tail bearing (no crash during this streak).

Just a quick note that I flew my Logo 10 for two years with only very minor maintenance needed.
the only catastrophic failure of my Mikados have been my over eager thumbs!

I have seen numerous heli crashes in person. No one heli is immune to "catastrophic breakage" when put in hard.
If it goes in hard enough it will break. No matter what the heli is, Mikado, Align, Thunder Tiger, Miniature Aircraft, Century, etc....

Pay attention to what the people around you fly and what the LHS' carry also. It would suck to not be able to go get a spare in a pinch and have to wait for the mail if your shops don't carry the parts... Also since you already have Align helis you are familiar with them and many parts are the same between the E and N 600's, so you will need to have fewer spares on hand.

Even though I am biased of course towards Mikado helis, this is good advice. In the end a large part of your decsion should be availability to you and familiarity does help alot as well. The Mikado 6003D will pretty much eat the 600Rex though, that truly is a certainty.:smokin:

Thank you all very much. I appreciate your feedback. I'll be picking up a Logo. So .... 500 ... or ... 600? (New Thread)

Mine got hammerd from 30ft up into the ground full throttle, not much left. However, after owning such a great flying heli their is no way I could take a step back to flying........ bricks. It's simply to best.

I owned a Trex600 on 8s and it fly well but not much precise as i was hoping... so i decided after few flights to sell it and buy a L500 vstabi for use the same electronics.
I don't have flown it yet but i have to admit that the parts of Mikado are very well made and precise (the gear are straight, the shaft are all the same... not as Align).
And the most important thing is that it is beatifull and easy to work on it. Mikado makes a great works on new Logos and you can apreciate it when you build one.
