What do you get with the 600 that would need to be upgraded to make the 500 into a 600? Where is the $110 difference in price? What is required to convert a 500 into a 600?

If you want to run 6s packs buy the 5003D.
If you want to run 10s packs buy the 6003D
Simple.

Both Logos will do everything you want - the L600 being a bit bigger will do it slightly more elegantly and at a greater distance - main consideration is the pack sizes as Jeremy points out - gearing up for 6S cheaper than 10S especially if you have to go out and get new charger and balancer so if you have the gear for 6S I'd go L:500 but if you already have 10 charging capability or have to buy new charger I'd go L600 and 10S

There are actually a bunch of parts, here are the majors.
boom
belt
the tail case
fiberglass canopy
boom supports
skid tubes
blade grips
CF horizontal fin
mod .07 main gear
The logo 600 has a 25mm diameter tail boom, fiberglass canopy, the head is the logo 14 design, and .7 mod gears.

The 500 also has 0.7 mod gears included in the kit (which I'm using). Even though the 500 is smaller than the 600, it is still substantial in size. Right now I've got 560mm blades and it makes the Trex450 look tiny.

And here is a picture showing the difference between the Trex450 and Logo 500 3D.

No far to high of kv for either heli, the main gear on the Logos is 153 tooth, where as the motor you list is for a main gear of 170 tooth and up. You would want to find a motor with 1300kv or less. If you run the Logo 5003D it is optimum as a 6S machine truly, and is much more ballistic than a T-Rex 600, by far actually. And the Logo 600 is primarly best as a 10S lipo machine, so the difference in the two is alot of money in lipo difference.

You can sell that motor to many t-rex 600 owners as it is a very desired motor for that machine.

boom

the tail case
fiberglass canopy
boom supports
skid tubes
blade grips
CF horizontal fin
mod .07 main gear
Something wrong in that list:
Same fiberglass canopy on both 600 3d/500 3d
Skidtubes the same
Blade grips the same, but a littlebit different head assembly.
Same mod .07 main gear
There is really not much to change to make a 500 to a 600, but it's like said before... it's mainly the question if you want to go 6s or 10s. I would guess you fly very similar with both, just that with the littlebit longer 600 you could fly a bit further away ;)

No, the canopy is definitely different due to the change in the front skid holder being on the forward holes on the 600. Thus the distance to where it hooks on the front to the mounting pins is different:

MIK4111 - Canopy Logo 500 3D (http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6500)Standard (http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6500)
MIK4130 - Canopy Logo 600 3D Fiberglass (http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6502)
Based on the diagrams, the skid pipes sure look longer on the 600, but I couldn't work out part numbers. The change in where the mounts go on the frames again seem to require this...

Sorry, i menat that the canopies where made of the same material. They different in shape as you said.
About the skids... well, pictures i have seen shows same length, but i will have to check out the mainbladeholders, as i thought they where the same.
Anyways, there are just minor things to change to make a 500 into a 600, and vice versa ;)

The skids are about 30mm shorter on the 500 and the mainblade grips appreciably smaller
