I got that new Cam yesterday and put a few flights on it.
It did alright when i first got it. Now it's having a little problem.
I'll fire up the Heli, Hit record and take off. After about two minutes I come back and the camera is off. It says that a video was taken but there's no file.
I've tried differant memmory cards, changed the Batteries, Tried NTFS and FAT32 formats, Tried differant record rates 15 FPS and 30 FPS.. Nothing seem to work, and there is nothing in the troubleshooting part of the manual that describes this problem.
Any Ideas????????

It seems that it will record fine with no vibration. Is this camera supposted to be that sensative?

I guess it depends how serious the vibration is .... does your heli vibrate noticably? Maybe you could try to isolate the camera more or try to reduce the vibes on the heli as much as possible and then try again?

I don't really see how I could possibly do that. It's mounted to the Boom struts,
I can see that there is another place to mount it on the TREX450..
Other than making a bracket that mounts to the /Skidds, But i've also seen how other people are mounting it, and they seem to work OK,,,
As for the vibration, I thought that it might be the Main rotor or the tail rotor,

I shot a laser beam at the main rotor screw and the was no wobble outside ot the laser on either the Main rotor or tail rotor

Hey Randal.....

If I remember the OS states it must be formatted in FAT 16 ? and not 32. I would have to find the instructions again to make sure. Have you tried to see if it will record off of the heli ? Just curious if it's the vibration, mine seems to be working fine.

when I first plugged the Memmory in , It had a error, I tried to format in NTFS, Didn't work ,, I then tried FAT32, Worked a couple times,
Haven't tried FAT16
When I plug it up, CAm seems to work great on spin up. I can look down and see the LCD.. I don't really know when it fails, because I can't here the shut down tones on the cam.
I'll try FAT16, But I don't know that I have that option with vista,,,

I didn't see that FAT16 on format, but it does have the option for Deafult FAT.
I'll try a launch tonight with deafult File allocation Table and see waht happens.

Didn't work,,,
I formatted it in Default FAT, FAT32 and NTFS... Nothing works.
It might just be the CAM.. I'm thinking,

I found an Addendum sheet in my paperwork, with procedure for formating from FAT32 to FAT16. DId you try filming off of the heli ? Oh, try this. DOwnload your video with the SD card still in the camera. I am running out of ideas here. LOL

Yeah,, I tried that too,, Thanks for the help...
I think it's either the CAM or the Heli,,, Kinda hard to tell at this point,
I can't really test the cam on the TREX600 until tomorrow. I need another set of mavericks, flybar, Skidz,,and a few screws to get back up in the air with the 600. It does fly a lot smoother,, than the 450//
I've already sent the company a E-mail on the CAM,, oooppsss..
Planning for the worst,,
If the cam runs good on the 600 tomorrow night,, I'll probably change directions on sending it back, and keep the cams off the 450// and make the 600 the CAM Bird..
I also ordered the spartan for the 600,, Maybe that will help with my High altitude orintation problems,, Well,, that ,, and maybe not choosing a Canopy that has Dark colors on the bottom Light n top,, and flying at Dusk...
:YeaBaby:
As you can probably tell, i'm working out the bugs on my flyiing skillz

I talked with the company that sold it to me. They did a pretty good job at helping.
The Laser sighting was done prior to setup. It flew great without a crash, Then It stopped working. I rechecked with the Laser sight It still looked pretty close. I learned the Hard way the nothing beats a good "Pitch Gauge" every now and then.
After check with a pitch gauge, I found that all thought the laser didn't pick up head vibrations, I was still one turn off on the blades, Never crashed?? DOnno know what happened, I also found the same thing on the TREX600. For some reason after 20 or so flights with no crashes the Heads have to be re-checked with a Pitch gauge,

Anybody else ever experiance this.

Well, here's the update on oregon Scientific Cams,

I explained to them in detail what problem I was having. The company that I bought the camera from went back and forth with me on trouble shooting the cam via E-mail and after two e-mails they referred me back to the company who makes the cam.
I guess they just give up after two.

Here's a copy of the E-mail:

Dear ATC users,

Thank you for your support and comments regarding our products.

It seems there have been some misunderstanding between our Support Team and customers - we would like to clarify things on this website.

It is our standard procedure to first refer customers to the original retailer regarding returns and exchanges. However, we understand that this may bring about negative results. Therefore we also provide a link to Oregon Scientific's return procedures (http://www2.oregonscientific.com/service/warranty.asp). To arrange an exchange or return users should follow this link and contact our team to request an RMA. They should ensure they receive the RMA before sending anything to us.

I know you think your trying to help.
And I do appreciate that. I really do understand when someone trys.
But the reality is, I paid $100.00 for the camera. I guess you get what you pay for. I'm not complaining. I just wished the company that old me the camera had your warranty information posted as you do. I blame that on me for not doing the research. On a positive note I've already written it off to experiance.
But I do thank you for trying.

Randal,
I know it seems like they are giving you the run around, but give it a chance and send it back to them to see if they replace it. I think you will enjoy the camera if you had one that works. The $100 self contained unit is what attracted me too, I know it disappointing when you get something that doesn't work, and you have gone the extra mile back and forth trying to get it corrected. Good luck, FWIW.
