I am currently flying the Mini Titan which I love, even considering a second one. I really want to get a Raptor 50, but have a few issues...

Can I get away with a 6 channel radio for now without governer?
Which servos can I fly with the Raptor on a budget for now?

Is the TT motor a bad choice? I've heard from friends its a pain in the rear compared to a OS hyper.

Thanks for all the help!

Yep. You don't NEED a gov to fly a Nitro - just set the THR linkage and THR curves up correctly

Which servos can I fly with the Raptor on a budget for now?Futaba's 3001's will do what is needed if you don't want to do Mad3deez

Can you use a 6 channel radio: Yes but that is the minimum, 1 aileron, 2 elevator, 3 pitch, 4 throttle, 5 rudder, 6 gyro gain (you can get away with out the gyro gain depending on the gyro).

Which servos: Sorry I don't know the number but check out JR's web site and see which ones they package with there transmitters as a combo or the JR flight pack. These will do but are on the low end, so don't expect allot of speed out of them. You can do a search here for "servo chart" and compare them to others as far as speed, torque and price. I think for a set of 5 sold as a "flight pack" will be about $100.

TT motor: I have not had any experience with them, however I have heard there 37 size would cut out in mid flight. I do not know if that is old news and they have it fixed. You can't go wrong with the OS hyper. Besides, if you are buying a new motor for it, spend the extra bucks for what you know will work and not have to spend all that money at a later date to upgrade.

What I tell people when they are looking to build a new heli, it's like building a computer, buy the best you can afford, it will last that much longer before you have to upgrade.

I wouldn't fly a heli on anything less than Futaba 9001's. 3001's are for land use.

My understanding is that the TT39 and TT50 are quite adequately reliable, enough power for a beginner and close to half the fuel consumption of an equivelant OS Hyper. I flew on a TT46 Pro H for over a year when I started out. Wonderful little engine. I could get twice the flight-time out of a tankful compared to my buddy with his Hyper.

Also, TT is launching its new Redline RL-53H right about now. Not only does this mean that TT50's ought to drop in price but the 53 is claimed to have better power and better fuel economy over the OS Hyper .

The titan is a good heli..

You don't need anything more than a six channel TX to get you in the air, it is nice to have the extra channel or two for latter on..

with servos you can go cheap to start you off with hovering it wont make to much of a diff, it is when you start in to FF and aerobatics that is when you want more out of them.. but a word of advice do not use the spectrum Ds821 servo there is lots about and there cheap that is coz they are no good for a 50 size heli..

go for the best you can afford , but remember you can always upgrade latter on..

good luck..
