I am thinking about adding these to my MD530 Defender project but before I purchase them I wanted to get a little feed back.

Has anyone used these, any file footage of these babies in action. For $365.00 I am led to believe they are gonna be the real deal but before I make that kinda of investment(more like a small dent in the growing tally) I'd like to hear what you all think.

The rocket launcher is a unique VARIO developement with a fully functional launch mechanism (preload striker), activation by servo.

The rocket launcher is made of aluminium, the three strikers are hardened. Shooting of firecrackers, signal rockets or others by 6 mm explosive cartrigdes.

Wow - that's pretty spendy. Looks cool, but I've basically been planning the same sort of idea with just common fireworks/smokebombs(!)/etc, a servo, flash cotton(search magic shops online), and a torn out electric lighter trigger. The servo hits the trigger which ignites the cotton which lights the fuse of your pyrotechnics.

That system is complete and available, but just in case you want to try a little DIY.

Where would you mount it? I would think it would blow the entire side off of the body if mounted on the wing tips.

You could put 16 gauge shells in there and turn the heli into a weapon. lol

Adding these to any heli is against AMA rules, just FYI. Actually, let me clarify: adding them would be ok, but actually firing any projectile from them is prohibited.

I thought about mounting it underneth. Yea along the wing skids would be awesome but I think your right about them damaging the fusalage. Problem with the under mount is that I got an email back from Vario and they said it was more suited for a flatter bottom heli like the Airwolf. So I might just have to wait till I build an Airwolf to go along with my Defender :-)

There was a thread on RCGroups about a guy that had an Airwolf set up to fire bottle rockets, using an on-board glow circuit to ignite model rocket ignitors to light the fuses, IIRC. If I can find it, I'll post a link....

Pretty cool, but probably a felony in the Peoples Republik of CA...:rolling
