Hi
I'm in the market for a 500 size heli (money burning a hole in my pocket)
My question is this :- should I wait for the trex 500 or should I go for the hdx 500 here http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?products_id=3167
I will be getting 4s batteries and will the motor that comes with the hdx be ok for mild 3d and I will be useing hs 81 servos
The hdx looks good with all the bling but still not sure weather I should wait for the trex.
I have a trex 600 nitro and love it so is the hdx up to the quality of the Align stuff
Thanks

Simon

Don't know much about the Trex 500 but I have a HDX 500. The quality of the parts is superb and it flies beautifully. I would definately recommend this heli. It is very similar to the Hirobo Lepton but with more bling. The only issue I have found is some binding of the flybar cage against the blade grips. This only occurs in the HDX500 syle head (same as the trex style). I believe this does not occur in the 3DX500 head. This is the exact same heli as the HDX500 but with a Hirobo Lepton style head.

Rotorworkz Charley has designed bolt on upgrade parts to fix this and speed up the heli. They will be available soon!! No more binding and +-14 and 8 cyclic no problem. Stay tuned!!

Video of the prototype machine flying is in the HF video forum.

Just seen the vid and I gotta say that it looks just as good as any video I have seen of the TREX 500.
When will the bolt on upgrades be availiable and was the motor Charley was using in the vid ??

The motor is the motor recommended by Steve the blue HDX500 Brushless Motor 850KV w/ Heat Sink

The HDX500SA is the machine in the videos. Prototype parts to production... Charley will need to answer that.
