Any reason you guys don't have wood blades available for the 500 size heli's? They seem to be very popular with the 450, 550, and 600 size... why not 500 (430mm?)?

I'm new to this and am considering an HDX500SE, but would feel MUCH more comfortable with wood blades, both for cost and damage control. I also noticed that everyone seems to be out of the cheaper ($30) fiberglass blades. Is this a common problem, or is my timing just wrong? When do you expect more to be available?

Thanks

My HDX500 came with the Fiberglass FRP blades in the kit.

I much prefer FG blades over Woodies. Best blade I have seen flying on Charley's HDX500 are the MS Composit 420 carbons. Not that pricey for the flying characteristics and safety.

I'm sure they fly fine, but as a beginner I expect to crash a fair amount, and I'd rather sacrifice a pair of $15 wood blades then a pair of $30 harder blades that have more of a chance of transferring force into the aluminum head and breaking or bending something on that, costing even more...

Would using the Plastic main blade grips on the SE head help with that problem?

But do FG blades increase the chances of head damage in a crash compared to woods?

David,

Head damage can happen with any type of blade kind of like luck of the draw.....
In my humble opinion Fiberglass blades would be a safer alterative to wood I only will fly wood blades on my 450's

Why would that be? I would expect woods to be safer. Unless you are thinking about the possibility of them failing in flight?
