Attached is a HOWTO for a linux helicopter simulator. I have not yet been able to get it to work well (see the HOWTO for details), but it seems promising.
The above is obsolete. HeliSimRC (http://www.marksfiles.net/HeliSim/index.htm) works beautifully "right out of the box" with Fedora 8 Linux, Wine 1.0, a www.milehighwings.com USB adapter, and my trusty old JR X388-S transmitter. Inverted flight, 3D stuff all work great with no fussing at all. Beautiful graphics, very, very realistic feel to the controls. This is a truly beautiful piece of work. It's free, but please do consider joining me in making a contribution via the link on the download page (I have absolutely no connection with the project). I recommend Heli-X, http://www.heli-x.net/index_e.shtml.
It works very well on my Linux distribution with my E-Sky controller.
