servo connection

I'm pretty new to RC heli's (anything for that matter) and I am having a small problem. Is it common to have to cut the servo connector so that they will fit in the reciever? My futaba s9650 has a piece on the connector that prevents it from fitting into my ar7000 reciever..

Help!

I took a chance and cut the connector with a hobby knife and it works fine..

The Futaba connectors are keyed but there's no danger in plugging them in backwards, they just wont work. JR doesn't use the key way so yes, you have to shave the key off to get it to work on other receivers.
