Is the TR 500 gyro mounted on the top of the tail boom. I thought that was a no-no.

Maybe it was before, but Alan Szabo has his mounted inside.

Yeah - but what do the pros do? :YeaBaby:

Edit:

I guess what he's wondering is "What would Manny Lalo do?"

Hey, that would look good on a T-Shirt!

It seems as though there are places for it anywhere. There is a small "shelf" below the boom block that looks like it might accommodate a gyro, and there is also a flat spot on top of the boom block. It looks like the gyro would be protected by the frames in the top location.

The real reason that the gyro on 450s has to go on the bottom is because there is much less clearance between the boom block and maximum flybar deflection than with, say, a 500.

Yep... I dont think mounting on top for this heli will be a problem.... The 450 is a sitting duck because of the flybar and how close it sits to a crashed and wrapped up flybar ;)

Hi, Bob

So on the tr500, it's not as critical to have the gyro located below the boom as it is one the tr450....is that a fair assement?

It dosn't really matter where its mounted untill you crash.
