According to the SE Manual the diagram shows the blade grip arm/ball link as leading if the assembly turns in a clockwise direction. My new pre- assembled head has the blade grip arm/ball as trailing in a clockwise rotation. Which is correct? Is my seesaw upside down?
Thanks,
Norm

Trailing edge control is correct.
I think you will find that the links would bind on stuff if it is assembled as leading edge control.

The same mistake appears to be with the tail in the manual: The manual says leading, but if you apply leading, you have a wrong angel on the tailblades. If you use trailing, the angel is right.
As far as I have followed the discussion:
3DX500 head: leading
HDX500 head: trailing
3DX500 and HDX500 tail: trailing
Someone wrote leading on the tail would be better, but you can`t apply it to my 3DX500 tail.

My tail is definitely leading, and works pretty well, but i have 80mm tail blades on.
Trailing edge tail blades puts the tail push rod under lots compression and that would give adverse effects especially with a heli that doesn't have the best of tails to start with.

I tried to and your arguments are definitely right, but the tail does not have the right angel on assembly for leading control. I think it is designed to be trailing, although it will push the rod. The 450 tail is trailing, too.

My HDX was originally assebled per their instruction manual as leading edge contorl on the mains. It was quickly apparent that this wouldn't work, so I changed to trailing edge and it flies fine.

Thanks all for the input. I was at my local hobby shop and saw a Lepton in the display case and it was set up as leading. If it wasn't for the forums I would be a second guesser.

Hi there,
I got my HDX500 yesterday and started to build it.
The bad experience is that, nearly half the threaded links for the head are missing in the kit.
I got enough on spare so, that I could finish the head assembly.
I just copied the linkage positions from a HDX450 head and it seems to be o.k..
The only problem I experience are that, I can't get the 0° Pitch position right.
All the given messurements in the HDX500 manual are way to large and I had to shorten some links by more then 5 mm.
Did you guys have the same problems when assembling the head on your HDX500 ??
Michael
P.S.:Sorry for my bad english and grammar. I'm german and don't know better.

Hallo Mick,
Now, back to topic:
Thanks for the picture. It matches exactly my adjustment on the head.
The pitch linkage rods are a little different than, on my heli because of tracking problems.
I checked the setup again and made some little "jumps" in front of the house.
Compared to my 3DX500 the HDX500 is less stable in the air and the stearing is not that precise like I know it from my 3DX500.
Thanks again for your help, mick I apprecheate it.
Michael
