I have seen people enhancing photographs e.g. "greening up" grass exagerrating brick and foliage colurs using tools like Photoshop to produce a really "Glossy Magazine" effect.

Any suggestions on the steps to do this using Photoshop or Lightroom?

Sorry, couldn't help it. I'm curious too.

maybe try some tutorials available on the net (some are free). Here is one about adjusting tonal values.

I believe what you're looking for is increased color saturation. In photoshop, go the "adjust hue/saturation" control box and increase the saturation and you'll see the colors become more emphasized. That's just the "tip of the iceberg" as far as what can be done but it might start you in the direction that you're needing.

Hope that this is helpful.

photoshop is a great program. i use it daily. but, lightroom is geared more for what you're after. it has an amazing set of presets--great for a novice to tinker with. it also has all the color correction pallates in one area so you're not going between 15 different menus as in PS. definitely worth a look.
