I am new to nitro heli's and need some help. Trying to decide between be tween a Minature Aircraft X-Cell Graphite with the 23cc Zenoah or one of the Bergan machines. Any other suggestions? Looking for a dependable high quality machine to last me for awhile. Thanks for the help!

Are you looking for a glow or gas setup. IF glow I would recomend the X-cell Fury Xtreme 90. OS or YS.. If gas the the Spectra also from MinAir.

great machines low maintanence.

IF this is your first machine and your learning I would highly recomend the R50 Raptor from Thunder Tiger. If it's not then one of the above.

Bighands is right, you don’t want an old X-Cell Gas Graphite, you need something newer. Fury 60 expert or 90 Extreme or Tempest or the new Stratus is what you need. If you need a gasser then the Spectra G. These are all for intermediate pilots and above = safely flying around and coming back with a decent approach to landing.

If you are a true beginner then stay with a R30 or R50 at the biggest. This is for your safety and that of those around you. Yes the smaller machines do less damage to people when they hit them then the big machines!

Thanks for the great tips. I am new and you guys make perfet sense, will take your advice. On another note what are the advantages/disadvantages of gas vs nitro.

HeliSki,

1 there are no small gassers so there not for beginners. 2 gassers are heaver and have less power then say a 90 glow. 3 gassers possibly have higher vibration levels then glow.

Advantages to gassers. 1 less fuel cost. 2 less support equipment (no electric starter or glow igniter). 3 less mess/oil.

I never have loved the gassers; there just not my thing but some that have them love them so there is a place for them.

In the recent past I would say to start with a Raptor 50 but now that the OS 37 has come along I would recommend a Raptor 30V2 with the OS 37 and Hatori muffler/pipe. Sorry I don’t know the # of the Hatori muffler. Have a buddy with this setup and it works great!

Heliski,

As a brand new heli pilot I started with a Raptor 30 with an OS32. After I put it together I found a helper pilot on the net to help me with the setup. So far I have found the Raptor to be a nice machine but I am still in the hover stage with only 9 flights to date. Waiting for the rain to stop.

Whatever machine you decide to start with I would recommend getting a sim, I am using the Real Flight G2. Once you think your ready to fly find an experienced pilot to help you get started. I had my machine setup with two flight controls setup backwards. Can you imagine the destruction.

Anyhow have fun!!! I am.
