Hi everyone.
I am looking for an additional battery for the cx2. I already have the stock one that came with it and also a Flightpower evolite replacement. After looking around on helifreak i have noticed some people rate the ThunderPower 910. Can i ask if this is a better battery than the Flightpower variant.
Also looking at the measurements it seems a tad to big to go in the battery compartment. Where do you mount it?#
Cheers.

Another possibility is the DN Power 7.4V 15C 850 mAH packs. I have had l-good luck with them and they are a stock replacement (size-wise) for the stock E-Flite pack.
A word of warning, some here have said that they have had the DN's fail or puff on them after a feew cycles. I keep detailed logs on all of my packs and I can say that they are still going strong after about 20 cycles.
If you modify your battery tray and get rid of the stock tail, there are all kinds of packs to choose from.

Bry pretty much covered it. I'm running the same DN's and have almost 50 cycles on them without a problem. I have one that loses balance roughly every 10 charges, however I blame the stock eflite balance charger vs. the lipo. I know guys that are running the thunder power and love them.

Flightpower makes an awesome battery, You won't see much improvement with the ThunderPower 910, just a little more run time. The ThunderPower does not fit in the stock location, I tape mine to the bottom of the stock battery holder.
Stick with the flightpower, you can't get any better and it fits right in. I have 30+ different ThunderPower packs and have all the balance plugs so thats why I stick with them, otherwise i would get the FP pack too.

Cheers for that. Seems like i will stay with the Flightpower then.
I just need enough batts so i can keep flying whils the others charge.
I only use the stock charger that came with it and so it takes around an hour to charge one back up.
I have had good luck with xmhobbies battery .

I picked up a pair of the FP BLADEUPGRADE packs and am pretty happy with them. They're a little loose in the holders, but have a TON more punch than my E-Flite packs.

Does anyone know of a different charger that you can use to charge these batteries as my stock E Flite one takes approx 75 mins to charge each battery.

I use the FMA Direct Cellpro 4s these days, but it still won't buy you a lot of time. These are charged at 1C, which optimally would take an hour. If you're using the 0.65A charger, then it would be a little faster. The 0.8A charger should be about the same.

I use the Electrifly Triton Jr for my charger and the Electrifly Quinox as a balancer. Both are great, but just like the FMA charger, you are going to need to have a separate DC power source for this combo. There is no AC wall outlet.
These days, the only time I use my E-Flite chargers is when I am having a fly-fest and want to get as many packs through my fleet as I can!

? A 1 C charge on a 850Mah battery is 0.85A. The cellpro uses an alorithm to charge safely at over 1C. Commonly it will chage at 1.5 C for some of the charge. Bottom line is it is much faster than a bog standard 0.65 A charger !
PS that is unless it is unhappy with the rate at which the battery is taking charge in which case it charges at under 1C, which could be your problem? Unfortunately the cellpro is an "intelligent" charger which for want of a better word has a mind of its own! Have you tried your cellpro with a new battery?

I assumed the question was about the stock E-Flites, which are 800mAh. I'm not going to niggle over 0.05A, however.
While you can certainly try and charge at >1C, I wasn't going down that route. Unless the pack manufacturer blesses doing that, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Some of the FP packs state that this is allowed, but not the E-Flite.
OTOH, I don't consider the Cellpro's wandering a little over 1C to be anything of concern. I just wouldn't set it over 1C.

I'm using the DN Power 7.4V 15C 850 mAH packs for my CX2, with the DN Charger. I'm charging at 1.0A instead of 0.80A. Is this ok? What's the max you would charge these packs?

Ive been doing some research and found a charger that will charge two batterys at the same time 2s only. I found it at hobbycity. Located overseas. Its only 25.00. The reviews on it are good. Hextronic charger/balancer. I was thinking about it myself but have never ordered anything overseas before.

It depends. To be ABSOLUTELY safe, never charge at more than 1C (or 10% of your mAH capacity). Some people DO charge at a higher rate and have no problems, but those are usually the really good packs.

I am using Flightpower evo lite 7.4 800mah packs and love them. They balance perfectly from discharge to charge. Purchased just one to test, and got great performance and punch from the battery. So good, just ordered 2 more.:smokin:

I charge My thunder power 900Mah packs at 2.7 amps ( 3C) on my cellpro 4s. They handle it just fine, been doing so for over a year and still on the original 2 LiPos I bought that replaced the crappy e-flite packs. The cellpro charges them up in about 15-20 minutes. Now I wouldn't charge the e-flites at that rate, they are junk packs and I only use them in my mini delta wing plane. Charge the e-flites at less than 1c and after 20 or so cycles they will be done and need to be tossed. Charge them at 2c or higher and they might get 10 cycles before they are junked. Be careful using the stock charger, I had one melt on me and almost catch fire, it was not charging a battery at the time. Keep an eye on things and you will be ok.
