hi guys,
it seems hobbico have been sitting on phoenix. no adverts in the US mags, no adverts on the forums, no adverts on tower site and not listed unless you click search.
now its showing as "temporarily out of stock"
i guess they realised they cant compete with phoenix's realism so have resorted to other methods?

Great Planes is terrible!!!! They need to release Runtime from the exclusivity agreement if they're not going to promote it!! Plain and simple.

Runtime could market Phoenix directly via advertising on forums like this. Get a fullfllment house in the central US to ship dongles and discs, and, as they say, "Robert's your father's brother."

Since they can get it to you in 4 days from the UK, why bother?
Just advertise themselves here and in magazines.

Well I imagine the contract they entered in with Great Planes does not allow them to do that. My guess is the contract says the Great Planes will be the exclusive USA importer/distributor. I doubt the contract specified how much product Great Planes had to buy. Sounds to me like Runtime screwed there selfs.

sounds to me like gp just eliminated some of their competition buy immoral business dealings. runtime should've had a bailout in the contract i dont us gp anyways but i hope runtime gets out of this.

Maybe an injunction against Great Planes for failure to perform? :)

I seriously doubt Runtime has the resources to take on Great Planes. There is a few that thought they did, now they are no longer in business. Heli hut is one that comes to mind. Where are they now? LOL

I doubt it also, sadly, and given your tone from the other thread your part of the complacency that allows this problem to plauge our society today.

What is to stop Runtime selling to a UK wholesaler specialising in export?
For example, Runtime sell to me, I sell to US buyers or even US suppliers. If Runtime are not selling to the USA directly what can Great Planes do?

They are selling directly to the US.
Unless someone can get to read the exact contract, not sure what the limits are. They never did stop, so it might only deal with shipping to the US from the US.

I'd gladly donate $10 to a legal defense fund. GP is no longer helping the industry they are hurting it!!!

Interesting. If you check the list of distributors by country, you see this:
USA/Canada
Please order direct from our safe, secure and fast online ordering centre.

I ordered my copy direct from Britain Christmas day and was notified today that it will be here on Jan 2nd.
That is a lot faster than from the US.
I contacted MRC today re: the problems I am having with Reflex and was advised to send in my dongle and cord. I have been trying for a week to get it going.
I hope Phoenix will work out of the box as Reflight did.
The demo looked great which is what made me buy it. Good sales tool.

It would be interesting to post exactly the same stuff as somebody with no interest in the product - for instance I can post something like 'Walkera heli's are rubbish, get yourself a Raptor' but I wonder how well it would go down if I worked for Thunder Tiger?

Ade, since I can't see your original post, I can't comment as to whether the Admins complaints are valid. If you are promoting Phoenix in other Sim sub headings, that's not cool. Just keep it in the general sections and don't use foul language (assuming you did based on the Admin post, but maybe not). Be professional and keep it in context. I agree, that Hobbico seems to be playing a nasty game of hardball.
Cheers!
