View Full Version : Still need thinker liner with the larger clutch?

Just got a 600 sports and what I found is that the clutch is a little bigger now. The old one was 41.2 mm and the new one is 41.6 mm. The bell & liner is still the same (meaning 0.8mm thick and 44mm id for the bell). So now, instead of having over 20 thousands on clearance, it is about 14 to 15/1000".

I tried to put the raptor liner in and it is really tight to a point that it is rubbing all the time. I am thinking about putting the stock one back in. Any advice before I start flying.

Thanks

im having the opposite problem.. I thought mine was "ok" but after flying it and doing tail slides from a couple hundred feet and doing violent stops at the bottom you can hear the engine over rev. If its fairly tight now, i'd fly it and see how it does.

On that note, should the clutch/liner be such that there is no rubbing at idle? IE blades don't spin at all, or is it normal to have a little rub and the blades turn a little when the engine is idling?

the way i look at it.. is as long as you aren't bogging down the engine at idle by holding the rotorhead but you still feel a lil bit of dragging, its about right. If you feel no resistance at all with the engine idle, its probly too loose. My avant has a slight drag at idle, but my 600N does not, and it doesn't start to spin up until the throttle is at 1/4 stick or slightly higher.

Are you using the stock liner or did you switch to a different one?

stock liner for now.. but mine is slipping bad enough to where when i come out of a tail slide from about 1500' when you punch the collective to it to stop at the bottom you hear the engine rev up at the same time from the clutch slipping. So i'm putting in the Raptor 90 clutch liners as soon as they get here.

Ah gotcha. Mine seemed to spool up pretty decent, at the end of the gallon the rotorhead was taking a LOT longer to get up to speed. I've got some R90 liners here too, just have to get off my rear and get them installed.

Yea i'm waiting for my liners to showup from heliproz-S.. hopefully they'll be here today. b/c i'm ready to get some flying in.

ohh... only have 4 flights on mine and its gotten progressively worse for each flight.

I think mine is slipping also, spools up fine but takes some time and makes a weird noise. In normal mode is almost falling out of the sky when I come down real close to landing, almost right at 0 pitch. Its like the clutch dis-engages at that point in the curve, which I am sure I could fix by changing the curve. I landed in Idle up and no problems, but my gap did not look that big on the build. Can anyone give me a visual cue to see if the gap is too large? I found the specs on the liner at Ready-Heli what are the specs on the R90 one?

According to my mic, the R90 liner is .0285" thick.

I think you shiould change the liner.

I also had the stock liner, and the clutch shoe broke after 4 gallons!
And in many people i know... I belive that with the stock liner, soon the clutch will break...

So change it and you will be ok! Dont worry!
