Curently have a couple 600 nitro pros and want a Gasser,
Which Model and Setup would you go with now, after Gasser Experience?

Thanks,

I find my Predator Gasser a great 3D platform

Here is a video of one:

spectra-g using a TRM 231. The motor has been specifically tuned for the Spectra gear ratio

I fly Minair. Been flying them since 1997 with my first gasser 1005 kit back then before anyone ever believed in gassers. Minair makes quality machines which fit together perfectly and have an excellent lifespan with parts support and flights on original parts. I still fly my 1005 gasser today with over 1750 flights on it and 2 years ago I got the Spectra-g which now sports 408 flights.

The Spectra-g is a state of the art high quality CCPM machine of today and its 3D performance is breathtaking. If you decide to go with Minair you will be amazed! Here is a link of mine flying back in September 2006.

I am also in the process of considering a gasser,
I see a lot of positive reactions here about the Spectra-G,
Aren't there any good experiances with a Bergen Intrepid ?

I think the Maxum is to expensive for me, and the vario is more of a heli to convert to scale
Ive read to many negative experiances with the century company to consider a predator.

so I'm in doubt about the Minair Spectra-G or the Bergen Intrepid.

I'm sure some of the bergen boys will come in and put in a good word as soon as they see this post. Either that or go to the Bergen forum and ask them there.

OK,

I'm a Bergen flyer and I have been flying a Bergen Intrepid for over a year. It is a very nice machine and although I can't do 3D yet, I have seen Greg Alderman ring it out pretty good. I even had Greg fly mine and show me it was capable, just not me! The Bergen is well made and although I've seen comments that you need to be an experienced builder, I didn't find it difficult at all. Customer Service is second to none and if you are lucky enough like me to be close to them (I'm 2 1/2 hours away), you can visit them and have them go through your machine. I have done that twice. Once with my Intrepid and once with my turbine, The people are great and the service is even better. I have never had a problem getting a part and I find the cost of parts par with similar sized equipment.

Feel free to PM me with specific questions or you can go to www.bergenrc.com and download the build manuals for the birds.

I currently fly the hawk pro from century and am moving up to a gasser, Done a lot of research on gasser helis. The bergen is the rolls royce of helis with customer support second to none! I have had nothing but trouble getting parts from century every single time ive ordered, Bergen will be my next heli !!!!!!!!!!!!

Those videos are not of me or mine. But I know them, and they are basically stock as described in the openings of the videos.

Mine is the stock version and I love how it 3D's. Much like in the videos.

What makes it a great 3D machine is that it uses the same upper frames, eCCPM control system, tail system & great rotor head as the Predator MAX (90 nitro) which also is a great 3D heli that weighs in a hair over 10 lbs. The only difference is the lower frames and clutch system to accomodate the G231 or G260 gas engines.

My G231 gasser only weighs in at 12 lbs 5 oz. so it has proven to be very agile, as the stock gear ratio used, turns the 710mm RT 3D blades at 1850 with ease. I find it a much better 3D heli then many 50's & 60's I have had, but not quite up to my Preddy Max 90/YS91.....and it also autos very well with the 710's.

Hi RAV50,

what gyro are you using and how many 3D flights have you put through yours? I ask that because I think my CSM 720 is chewing up crown gears (imagine that!)

As in any heli, if you are chewing up crown gear, it usually means your "delay" function (controls how fast a tail command starts and how hard it tries to stop any yaw or pirouette type of command) is set. I do not know how to set that on the CSM, but I am sure it has such an adjustment.

The better the gear mesh is set - the harder the delay can be set. But I have found that this function is more critical to "ease on crown and tail gears" then for flight performance. As even set for a relatively loose mesh, the tail/gyro should perform very well.

Thanks RAV50.

I ended up purchasing a 611 which I have not yet tried. Any ideas of setting I should use other than the FAI mode a 34 gain?
