Listen to this: My CPP got shot out of the sky yesterday by a Hawk!! The guy circled twice and then dove in and took me out and then flew off. He had a three foot tether on his leg so I’m wondering if he escaped. Heli hit the wet grass some damage was limited to a servo gear and replacing a piece of the main frame that disappeared. I think he went for the landing gear, but it happened so fast I really couldn’t tell.

Lesson learned. When a big bird comes around, land ASAP. Can’t imagine what would have happened if I was flying the 450?? Could have been a lot worse for the bird and the heli…

Anyone else ever get shot down by a bird?

The bird appeared to fly off without any problems. He seemed to tuck his wings in, knock the heli out of the sky, extend the wings and glide off. It was truly an amazing sight. It happened so fast I’m still not sure where the hawk made contact with the heli. It looked like he swooped beneath and hit the landing skids??

The little CPP is back in the air and flying as good as ever. ~Onad

If you had been flying the TREX, I doubt that the bird would have survived and it probably would have taken the Heli out as well.

Raptors like the falcon always tuck in their wings when coming in for a kill. It probably thought your CPP would be a tasty snack!

Great story!

That's amazing and really good to know.

I'm waiting for my CP heli and we have redtail hawks a plenty. I see them nearly every day and occasionally a bald or golden eagle.

That's something to consider now.

I had buzzard circle me for a minute or two when flying my t-rex 450 once. A big noisy loop seemed to convince him I would not be a tasty snack.

we have a ton of these little sparrows i think at our field. they always chase our 450's around. sometimes i think there has to be atleast a hundred of them. i try to hit them sometimes but they are way quicker than i am. i will have to get a video of it next spring.
