What motor pinion should I use for a 4s1p 14.8v 2200mAh 25C Lipo Battery setup for aerobatic flying?
NO CLUE..... If Jason is running 5S with the largest pinion Align makes then 4S doesnt sound to great to me.....

The hyperlink is pointing at a file called step14.wmv, which doesn't exist. The file is actually called step_14.wmv.
Similarly, the 2nd and 3rd SolidG files are solidg_stick.wmv and solidg_gview.wmv respectively. Sorry, I don't have the 4th and final SolidG filename yet!

Yes actually... I would like to know how you are able to see the file names without knowing them?

I just love watching your videos Bob and I have very little patience. Took about 5-10 seconds per file to find - longer to make the posts! LOL

Nope...... but watch ANY of my other vids like Trex600e, 600N, 450, etc and I show how to use a pitch guage!

I am sorry, but I can't find any video mentioning a pitch gauge setup.
(This is not because I am lazy, but it would take all Christmas if I had to go through all of them) ;)

Stupid question time: on the thrust bearings, what's the purpose of the inner race being loose? Is it to accommodate wobble without binding against the shaft?
It is so that the shaft moves freely through so the load is taken by the outer race, through the bearings to the inner race, which bear on where you want the loads transfered.

Hi, Bob!
I have watched your excellent videos and have a couple of questions to the SolidG/S9257 setup.
If I heard and understood right, you would use 6.0V in your setup and therfore you added a step-down to 5.1V on the tail servo (9257). On the CY page, http://www.curtisyoungblood.com/faqs/search.php?id=2287, they have written that the SolidG need 5.7V regulated. Shouldn't we border about that?
And one more thing. My Futaba reseller told me that I can use 5.8V regulated on the S9257, since it is designed to be used will a fully charged 4.8v NiCd/NiMh battery. Any comment to this?

Well here is what I have to say to that ;)
1) You didnt read Curtis Spec properly.... Read it again here is what it says
Solid G Max Voltage
The Solid G is rated up to 7V. This voltage limit is higher than any tail servo on the market. Most tail servos have a max limit of 5.7V (some as high as 6V)
For customers running voltages higher than 5.7V it is recommended you run a voltage
The gyro has no problem up to 7V!!! It the tail servo they are talking about at 5.7V.
2) OK now regarding voltage unregulated vs regulated. Here is a little audio segment I did a while back that talk about this:
http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/hf_radio&filename=1_regulators.mp3
The Align BEC in this ESC is a switching reg not a linear reg like before. Regardless it puts out 5.9 when set to 6V.
Now regarding the specs on the 9257... Yes you might get by with that using them on the 5.9V BEC for cyclic but the duty put on the servo as a tail servo from a gyro is more stressful. I know some people are getting by running this servo on a Trex450 at 6V but I also know some that have burned them out. Myself I am not going to take that chance!
