Hi, Bob!

Thank you for clearing this up for me!

I just read the info at the link I provided and thought that was for the gyro. My SolidG (and manual) is back at CY for "cleaning" and I hope I get it back to Norway before my 500 is finished.

I will have to created (or buy) a step down for the S9257 then.

Once again, thank you!!

Have a nice Christmas!

i will be runnign 9257's all around, so i will set the BEC for 5v, do i need anything for the tail servo (9257) like will the gyro step-up the voltage?

Great Job Bob!

You really nock these build videos out! No matter what your day job is you have a future in the RC heli buisness!

I can't wait to pick up my 500!

Cracking job that man! As always a pleasure to watch, entertaining and eductional (beats the seasonal programming, even here in UK).

All the very best to you and yours, and may the weather be kind to you over the holidays.

Hi, Bob.

I hope your maiden flight went well yesterday!!

Still wonders a little about the SolidG and the use of step down. On the CY site they have two pictures, one that descibes the correct and one with incorrect installation.
Correct: http://www.curtisyoungblood.com/products_photo_detail.php?id=28
Incorrect: http://www.curtisyoungblood.com/products_photo_detail.php?id=29

As you will see the correct way, in CYs opinion, is to connect the step down between the RX and the gyro and not between the gyro and the servo. Do you know why it is like this since the gyro can take up to 7.0V?

Bob,
I noticed on your Tr500 build video, that the mods(i.e. TR450) weren't incorperated...specifically.... the "chinese weights" and the CF tailrotor pushrod (which eliminates drag induced by the stock Align pushrod guides)....

Having said that, the quality of your build videos is superb......but on the TR500 build you seem rushed...which I can understand, given everyones frenzy on having the latest and greatest.....

I think that your explanantion of the "inverted teepee" linkage to the swash was good...and I could perform a mathematical analysis...but a spreadsheet showing the variation of CCPM interaction versus varying the 16.5mm radius would be of value........but it has to be determined empirically......because the output of a servo is radial rather than linear...there is no way to eliminate interaction.....only to minimize......mixing can help, but only to a certain degree....

Your explanation of the trigonometry is the issue is essentially correct.....with planks, we called it "the cosine effect".....at the 45 deg. deflection of a radial servo arm...the horizontal movement of the link is equal to it's vertical movement...it's the "trig".....

If one would have a radio that had 9 mixers, 3 per a specific collective setting, then one could mix out CCPM at "mid collective (0 pitch) and at full (with full collective or some average of such) neg and full pos......

The "inverted t-pee" as designed in, is a way to mechanically minimize CCPM as much as possible......but the "pros" can move their thumbs better than I can even imagine...:lol

Math comes easier to me than how they can move their thumbs.....lol

I just got off the phone with Curtis as you not the first to point this out.
They show the step down in front of the gyro for folks running a 8V system. e.g. 2S lipo, no regulator, and a Spectrum RX and JR servos as they can handle 8V. The Gyro can only handle up to 7V.

Curtis said if you running regulated 6V it CAN go at the tail servo instead but that either way will work on a 6V regulated system.

Hi Bob,

First of all, thank you very much for all the great build vids you've done:noteworthy:noteworthy:noteworthy. I really benefitted a lot as well as many others around the globe.
Just a few quick questions about the T500 tail. Do you think i can install a hs5245MG servo for the tail? Does it fit into the supplied CF servo plate? I was going to put a 9650 for the tail but found out from the specs of the 2 that the 5245 has higher torque and just 0.01s slower than the 9650. Any thoughts?
BTW, is the torque of the 9257 really enough for the T500 tail? I'm using 9257 on 2 of my 450s, but just a little worried that it might not be enough for the bigger tail blade 'forces' of the T500 and i might burn it overtime.
Thanks a lot for any advice i can get.

Happy New Year to all!

The tail shouldn't need a lot of torque! SPEED is the best for a tail servo. 9257 should be fine, 9650 should also work! The 5245MG will fit and no spacers are required on the tail BUT not sure it's gonna be the best tail servo..... Just my opinion there... BUT HEY! Try it if you have it!

Thanks for the fast reply sir. I don't have the servo yet cus i'm still researching to decide what tail servo to get. So i suppose the torque of the 9257 is good enough for the T500 tail, i might go that way instead.
BTW Bob, is the GY401 good enough too? Or it won't do the job right?

im running a logictech 2100t and a 9650 on 6v and it's plenty for the tail. endpoints at 115%, gain at 72%. holds solid and piros wicked fast. i'm no 3d king and this setup works perfect for me.

Thanks for the heads up chuckk, really appreciate it.
BTW, does your tail not 'hunt'? I've read that lots of ppl including Bob have the problem with the tail.
Bob, have you fixed your tail problem already?
