Hi Bob,
I'm finishing building my TREX 500 with your videos.
I'm using a 9256 for tail and I when I mount it on my 600 servo mount, I stuck it because there's a little curb on the top each servo side (in the center where I put the grommet).
Should I cut this little "curbs" with a cutter ? or do I have to mount the servo by the inside ?
Hope you understood !

Yes.... use the grommets and the rib wont be a problem.

Thanks for the reply, I thought that putting grommets on the rudder was not good, as you recommend not to do in your cyclic servo setup.
best wishes,

It's OK for the tail since the forces there arent as much. Just tighten them down good so the servo doesnt move around. DONT use the brass rivets.

I just place the four grommets on the CF600 tail mount .... BUT i'm missing the servo nuts to fix the servo on the mount. The only one provided with the 500 was small nuts that work with the HS5245).
do i have to build nuts myself ?
I'm missing theses ones :

You should have gotten enough in your kit to do the tail servo. If not then yea... make your own or order some.

Yeah, I got some in the 500 kit but as I'm using a big servo for the rudder i need big nuts (not given in the kit)

Also check out the Heli Skills and Setup 101 thread (I think that's the title) here in this forum. Has a lot of good info. I learned a lot from just reading through the site.

Hi guys,
Sorry this question might have been asked before, but how does the 500 perform on 2x 3S Lipos? I only own a 450 so might be a nice easy upgrade before getting 6S lipos.

Hi Bob,
Thanks great videos as usual, really much appreciated with 500 build. I am currentley in process of step 3.
So far so good except missing washer on the socket button screw into the washout arm.
I just thought I would mention that you say linkage rod C on page 6 should be a 21mm gap where my manual says a 24mm gap. You also say,'go ahead and get the the 31mm links from the bag'. The link lengths again on page 6 (rod c ) say they should be 34mm.
I do notice that there are 3 long rods left in bag 500 hz2 which are 31mm which I believe are for the servo /swash arms, all called rod 'D'
This is not ment as a criticisam in any way Bob.
Maybe you v early manual is different? Or maybe you have worked out 21mm is the measurement?
You have a natural talent for explaining things and come accross magnificently
Well on with step 4!
Thanks

MK1 this has been discussed before here and in the 500 forum. My kit was a FIRST KIT and thus based on my input and others, Align has changed the manual over what I used in my build!!! However, If you go to post #1 you will see I have made NOTES in RED that state these changes.
Thanks for pointing this out though,
Bob

Hi, OK sorry Master Bob.
Something else I'm noticing, is nothing to do with you, Is that on page 6 top diagram it shows a small capital 'A', which is now present in my manual on the inside of the radius arm.
Naturally 'A' is outside.!!!!!
The washout control arm and radius arm came pre attached and thread locked.
Can you confirm if this is an exception to the 'A' rule.
I trying not to look a fool again!

Hmmm that is screwed up I think... I looked at my page 6 and YES the A is shown on the INSIDE! My elbow arms had NO A on it!
Bottom line look at the elbow link and look at the diameter of the link hole on each side., It should be clear that one side has a larger RIM diameter that the other side. The larger rim goes onto the ball first....
I see we will have changes and possibly a couple rev's in the manual over time. I may have to do a "manual updates" video in the future.
GOOD CATCH MK1.....

Thanks master,
I've just checked with some digital calipers and believe the 'A' side is the widest side measuring 4.46mm. The opposite side measures slightly smaller.
To be honest I don't believe its as noticeable as looking at another type of link such as the ones that go on rods.
I obviously don't want the link to fly off and ruin my investment. Although the manual says 'A' to outside, in this instance and by measurement, although the measurements are nearly identical, i will follow the drawing A inside.

Well like I said my kit did not have an A on either side but if there is an A now then that would be against everything Align has done... So you got me confused...

I think you said you had 'B's labeled on yours and they went inside, now 'A's replace 'B's inside. Confusing.
Would be nice with some Align feedback on this.
Better I hope when metal arms appear.
Is it easy to edit parts of your video when you have uploaded?
Head now complete!

i believe my radius arms have different letters on the inside...one has "A" and the other has "B".

The arms are probably made in a mold w/ multiple cavities so that more than 1 can be made at a time. Each mold cavity has a different letter so that any quality issues can be traced back to the one that the defective part came from. This is common practice w/ mass produced injection molded parts. The tail blades for the 450 are the same way.
