Well you going to have to look for plastic flashing or SOMETHING that is causing the bearing either not to seat all the way in the arm or might be causing the bearing to be tilted which will make it notchy. The arm is molded and it could be a little twisted. When it's mounted possibly just heating the plastic a little might cause it to conform.

Ahh.. you found the solution :)
When I'm tightening the screws the "fins" on the arm are slightly bent inwards.. And this in turn makes the bearing tilty against the washer arm mounting. Either a spacer in the washer mount is missing.. or the bearings in the radius "fins" are not going long enough in. This also explains why the movement is smooth when I unscrew 1/4 round so the "fins" are not bent anymore.
Multiple solutions to this but I think I wait for the upgrade.
Thanks again Bob.. I'm a newbie in the field so I didn't know tilty bearings makes notchy movement.

Cool.... glad you found it now PLEASE share what you did to fix it!
Others will probably run into this so even though I pointed you in the right direction, and I did not have to do anything, share how you fixed it so others can learn :)
Thanks,
Bob

H50013 Metal Control Lever Upgrade received.. and the same problem on these from the factory. But not as bad as the stock ones.. but still when I move the radius arm up and down I can feel some notching.
I guess this is how Align thinks it should be so I rest my case for now.. :)

Just getting ready to start my Trex 500 GF build. What a great resource this site is. Thanks Bob for all the great videos. I am sure I will have some questions for the group as I get into it.....

What's the deal with the mis-sized soft screws that Align put in the kit. I have the 500 CF kit and the screws that are supposed to hold the frame sided to the bottom plate go in about half way and then "click", the retarded screw strips using a "1.5mm" driver as recommended by the manual. I don't know how anyone can endorse this kind of garbage. The driver, along with every other 1.5mm allen I have fit loosely in the screws before you start. I saw somewhere that Align's answer is to buy the Align drivers. That is BS. They need to get better damn screws.
I am contemplatign taking the stupid head apart and returning the pile, then buuying a Protos.
Before I do that, I would like to see what other ideas fellow 500 owners have.
thanks,
Paul

I see it now, some people are buying a new set of screws. That too is BS. This the 4th Trex (2-600's and a 450)I have owned and all I can say is it better fly as good as people say considering how pissed I am about this. You should not have to buy new screws for a new kit in order to assemble it.

I too have stripped those exact same screws. And I was using the Align tool set. Yes, the screws are very cheap. At first I thought it was just me.
Thank you Bob for the build videos. All kits should come with your videos on CD.

Funny I just posted about the same Sh$t. I'm so pissed about that. I was really tempted to return it for a refund and get something else. It's like everything I learned about building kits left me. I was thinking how am I stripping screws once, twice, three times and more. I must be on crack. I bought a new tool kit and stripped again. Iv'e decided to stick with it and so I purchased the screw kit from some site in this thread. Rcscrewz I believe. Align you owe me 25 for my new tool set and 30 for those screws I had to buy to make your heli better.

Finless Bob,
Do you have a video for the T-Rex 500Torque Tube Drive assembly tips? I looked but can't find it.
Thanks, the videos really help.

Yeah, Finless. Any chance of a TT assembly video? Would be great. Instructions aren't easy to follow...

I had the same problem with the instructions. I wound up looking at the TT video for the 700N. I think the only difference was the 700 uses 2 bearings on the tube. It got me up and running. I imagine the video for the 600N would work as well.

Look in the Trex600e and 600 Nitro build vids as I have one in there for the TT. It the same design as the 500.

Thanks.
I watched the 600 one - there's quite a few differences, but I think it will be good enough.
Thanks for that.

Hi Bob. I ordered a Trex 500 kit 2 days ago. Just wondering whether Align put in extra spacers for the 5245 MG servos for the front?
If anyone else can answer my question then please do so:D
Thanks, Jonny

Finless,
The 600 video helped with the torque tube - thanks, however, the 500 torque tube also has a bearing mounted on it, but the bearing is noticeably smaller than the inside diameter of the torque tube housing - is that correct? I had assumed the bearing would be a snug fit inside the housing. The 600 video did not address the fit of the bearing inside the torque tube housing.
Thanks,

Bearing inside the housing? You mean the bearing that goes on the torque tube and inside the boom? If so that bearing is suppose to have a rubber around it to give it a tight fit in the boom!
