There is a GY611 vid. in the T Rex 600E series.
Here it is: http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/trex600&filename=gyro_setup.wmv

hi there great vid's Finless . was just wondering if you or anyone here can help me out. i would like to know if this setup will be good enough for this heli. i just do scale flying no 3d . i will be using hs 81 mg's all around with a logiteq 2100t gyro, and a dx6i tx , receiver will be the spec ar 6200, my lipo will be a 2500mah 6 cell and i will be using the 13 tooth motor gear also will be shooting for +12 -12 on my head. i will not be using the 6 volt on the bec i will try the 5 volt.

Finless you are the man, these videos are a prime reason why i stuck with this hobby after my stupid blade 400 experiences. (just a bad heli in my opinion)

I just bought a GFrex500 and downloaded all your videos.

I Just do NOT know what servos/gyro to use. i dont have a spending limit, and would just like the Top notch stuff (i Wont be able to tell the difference in the servos most likely but in the gyro/tail i will).

Can you or anyone else please share with me what your currently using? This is my first real build too and im so excited!

KUDOS TO YOU FINLESS BOB!

Airjunkie, for cyclic, everyone loves the JR Z3650. Readyheli has the best price I could find right now. For gyro, consensus seems to be the Spartan. I'll let others chime in on tail servos.

Alright I still would really like to know what 3 cyclic servos to use, what gyro and tail to use. I want to purchase all of this very soon and start looking for the best deal.

Please I am novicer and I have some doubts.

In this configuration for Trex 500

The cyclic servos aileron, pitch, elevator are hitec hs-82mg
and rudder servo is s9650 + gyro 401

is it possible to use the futaba radio system 6ex 2.4ghz or futaba 7c 2.4ghz with this specified servos and gyro?

I saw at futaba web site there is incompatibility between some servos and radios systems.

Thanks in advance

You should not have any problems with that setup. Compatibility issues usually involve gyros that require specific servos, like the 601/611 or the Logictech 6100. The 401 can be used with most servos, and many have used it sucessfully with the 9650.

Hi,

Just orderd my 500 and is watching your vids Bob, great vids by the way!
I was just wondering what CA is that you talk about in your vids, to secure screws into plastic I know but what is it, what does it stand for?

Also is there any alternatives if I can't find it in Sweden???

CA= CyanAcrylat= Instant Glue

Or crazyglue!

Then I guess any hobby glue will due. I have a tube of some stuff I bought for my plank, I guess that will work (perheaps it is CA)

I think the only thing you should be looking for is that it gets hard when its dry. i have certain glues that just stay a bit jelly like, but still glue the stuff together, not sure if that is perfect for fixing screws into plastic.

Also it should dry up quite fast, unless everytime you use it on screws you want to wait 2 or 3 days until you are going to fly.
basically loctite for metal screws on metal does the same
as CA for screws on plastic.

Btw, there should be glues found in every model shop and mostly they have different liquidity (hope thats the right english word). In my model shop i have some that are water like and some that are like normal glue and some that are really thick. so you can kinda use the water like stuff to flow into small holes whereas the very thick one is for glueing on surfaces and stuff.

perfect, Thanx!

A little trivia: CA is also used in some surgeries for gluing tricky incisions together, so you know it's non-toxic. Just don't glue your nostrils and mouth shut!

just thought i would let everyone know that i have put my trex 500 GF together and it has gone together without a problem. very nice bird. also to let evryone here know that the known isue of static on this heli that has been reported on many forums abroad does not apply to the trex 500 GF . i have tested this very intensively and i have found no static on the belt or main gear what so ever.

Bob, I remember you didn't have a good expirence with the HDX300 but do you have any opinion on the HDX500 by chance?

Hello Bob, im in the middle of the assemble of the trex 500, and i decided to buy the futaba 9650 for the cyclic, although i didnt knew i had to trim the servo case, in order to make them fit... Nevertheless i made a terrilble job with the dremel and crack all the servo cases. I know futaba sells replacement cases for the servos, but there once again i will have to trim them.

My question is, by any chance does the 9650 gears and mechanism fit in another case that does not need to be trimmed ? for example the 9254 or the 9257 ? or any other futaba case available ?

Have a great day and thank you very much for all your brilliant help...
God Bless

Unsure but I would be willing to bet the 9257 bottom case is the same without the trimming needed.

How bad did you mess up the cases? Structurally the bottom case just kind of "houses" everything so you may be able to CA glue them and seal any holes up..

Thank you for your quick answer, i know i can fix them and seal them with CA, but this heli is brand new, so i really want good looks in the 500...

Can you help me find out if any other case or the 9257 would fit ?
Have you ever bought replacement cases ? Do they come with the decal sticker ?
God Bless
and thank you very much

No clue if there are other cases that fit and I highly doubt it. Also NO they don't come with stickers... I have more rebuilt servos with no markings than I do new ;)

New heli or not.... It's not what it looks like it's how well it works! I would not sweat gluing and sealing bottom cases that you cant really see in the heli anyway!

So I set up the servos and linkages exactly to spec according to our video, but when I fired my Trex 500 up the inputs were incorrect. When i gave it right cyclic the heli tipped forward and when I gave left cyclic it tipped to the rear. Fore and aft cyclic also do not respond as they should.

I double checked the set up twice and the swash is moving in the correct direction when I move the cyclic. Do I need to mix elev to aile and vise versa to get it to fly correctly? Is this a common problem with the Trex? Did I mess up the build or set up? Any help would be great?

Gyroscopic precession is a tough thing to overcome.
