I'm having huge problems with the electronics on my heli. Is there an "electronics expert" around here who can help?

Hard to help if the problem is not stated.

couldn't have been too big an issue, he never came back to see if any of us could read his mind and post a fix to problem, w/o knowing what it was. but seriously, supergenius, what's the deal? we'll help you sort it for sure.

I keep melting electronics. The first time it happened my heli was a stock li-po walkera 36, I melted all the servos, the gyro, and the receiver. Then, I replaced the melted items with a futaba 2.4, align gyro, 3 hi-tec hs-55 servos, and one futaba servo on the tail. The 2nd time it happened, the tail servo went an extreme angle once the gyro synced up, and then it melted. The 3rd & 4th times it happened were with a hs-55 servo on the tail. They melted after the gyro synced up both times. ...I'm thinking it could be a crappy BEC on my crappy walkera ESC. Any ideas?

Not sure about that gyro but some have a digital or super servo mode, if that is turned on and you have a standard servo hooked up the gyro is using 250 hz frame rate to the servos that are designed for 70 hz so yes they will melt.

Ok, so to fix that, should I switch the gyro from digital to standard mode since I have a standard servo on it? Can I run the gyro in heading hold mode with the servo selector switched to standard? Or, will I have to get a digital servo for HH mode?

Servo mode and heading hold/rate mode are independant functions. Non digital servos should be run in standard servo mode. Most everyone flys in heading hold. There is no requirement to use a digital servo to fly in heading hold mode, other than it will work a lot better with one than without.
