Mark Ryder - 818-996-2222 - RunRyder, LLC
I say we should all give mark a call and let him know what we think. I think I will try to reach him at 2AM.
Seriously leave Mark alone. He is doing what he knows to be the best thing.... for whatever reason. We must respect what he does in his own house. I know we all would want the same respect in ours....right?

Lets not turn this into a bashing session guys. We are merely an alternative to other sites. We do stuff a little different, and that is OK.
Lets keep it respectful please.

While I prefer HF, and LOVE RH, I do visit RR.
1) Much more activity on the Quick of Japan helis.
2) More things for sale in the classifieds. :)
So I visit the Quick of Japan and Gaui sections, and the classfieds.
The wierd thing was, when I started reading this, I had been on RR earlier in the day and was noticing that almost every add when you went to a specific page was RH.
And if you read the emails on the RH site, from the earlier to the latest email he went from 99 other vendors to 97 other vendors. :)

When I first started to revisit rc helis, a co-worker recommended RR. Reading the RR posts and responses gave me bad flash-backs of my time in nitro rc boat racing. Plenty of people to come over and tell you all the things you have done wrong but not one would offer any help. You always feel like an outsider.
At HF, you feel welcome and the help is sometime overwhelming. Thanks to all.

RR's loss as far as I'm concerned. Readyheli.com is easily my favorite and most patronized site for heli parts. You guys do it right.
I can't wait to see a video of you tearnin' up that 500 jason!!

The Christmas card from ReadyHeli has a place of honor at the top of our card ribbon.

Hmm, I haven't seen an Xmas card from them.
Time to switch vendors.
Just kidding. :)

Yes John & Jen rock!! They got behind my family in a big way during a crises we've been going through.
About the T-Rex500..... It's nice looking. Problably the best looking heli Align has released thus far. I like all the black on the head. I do have a few questions...
Why do they keep mounting the motor underneath?
Why don't they go to a one piece flybar cage?
Why didn't they make it leading edge control?
Even with the above questions I still think it's a well thought design and I would be proud to love one in my shop.

I wonder if anybody is going to try a full sized tail servo (eg futaba 9254 or jr 8900). That would really rock. I wonder if it would balance well on 6S.

Why do they keep mounting the motor underneath?
My guess would be lower center of gravity.
Why didn't they make it leading edge control?
Trailing edge control is the "in" thing with the pro's right now. I've tried both head designs and I can't tell a difference.
I'm sure a 1 piece flybar cage will show up as an upgrade at some point, it looks like to me that Align just scaled down the T600 head to save time.

One piece flybar cage? Why? How the heck would you get the links on the cage balls?

You could have a frame and mount separate balls to the inside or outside...

OK but I still don't see the benefit?
Prime example.... Crash and bend the flybar badly right at the cage and then try to get the flybar out of the thing! With a take apart cage you can do that much easier.

I have a heli with a one piece flybar cage with the balls screwed to the outside of the cage.
Less parts count.... think about it. 1 piece cage vs 4 pieces and the screws. That's 8 pieces. A solid billet alloy cage is perfectly square but it's the lower parts count that rocks.
Most of the time you can bend it straight enough to pull the flybar out, like on a 450 size heli. I've done it many times:lol: On the bigger birds simply whip out the cordless dremil... done.
I'm itching for a 425mm bladed heli. Even though the Trex500 is a very sweet bird, I'm watching the competition to see what pans out. The HDX500 looks real nice for the money. I'm keeping my wallet in my pocket and waiting to see what Charley does with it over at Rotoworks. Upgrades do out anytime now.
Great build vids of the Trex500 Bob.

Well I think your talking about you Logo cage no? Realize it's on top not under the blades like a Trex. As for straightening the flybar... yes but I guess you haven't jacked one up as bad as I have seen which even with a take apart flybar cage it required a dremmel with cut off wheel to cut it right at the seesaw bearing to get it out :)

On my Logo 4mm it was a must cut. I really crashed it bad. On my Mini-Titan it's always a bend it straight then pull it out. Someone must have really tried to dig a grave with their heli. Damn! Had to dremmel a flybar out of a cage that was disassebled.... I would have liked to have seen that crash.
Did you know Mikado is selling or about to sell a flybarless head for the T-Rex600! It's on their website. Maybe they will offer one for the T-Rex500 too.
If they had a Vstabi conversion for the Trex500 I'd be all over it!! :fly

I have a feeling you will see a flybarless 500(425mm) kit from someone else in about a month or two.

Why would they want it lower?
you want the weight up high near the blades. Rolls better. Ever fly a helicam? With the camera gear down low, the weight swings just like a pendulum. Kinda hard to fly.
Helis simply fly better with the lipos and motor up high near the blades :)
I can't see why they keep doing it. I guess to keep the look the same as the rest of their line up and to keep space available for servos and lipos.
This thread got way off track so, Nice bird Jason! I am super jealous. I may have missed it, but what servos are going in?
