Hi,
I have now had 2 himax 2025 -4200 brushless motors for my zoom seeze up on me. For time it seezed for no apparent reason, so the place i ordered it from gave me a replacemt. This time i crashed and it has seezed again.

I really dont understand this, is there a problem with this particular motor? What should i do? Both the 2 himax motors i have had have been running real hot using an 8T pinion.

I was thinking of changing to a E-flight park 400 motor? Is this a good choice for my zoom?

Any help would be great,
Thanks,
Wayne.

The park 400 seems to have great reviews, but i am also researching into 2 outrunner type motors, the justgofly 400dh, and the Axi 2208/20

The only thing that puts me off the 400DH is that I am from the UK and dont like buying from overseas

I like the look of the Axi 2208/20, but i have a few question for people who run this motor.

Firstly, mounting. Will the Axi 2208/20 mounth easily into the Zoom's frame, or will it need some kinda modification?

Secondly, what is the best pinion for this motor? I read that a 17 or 8T pinion is best. Where can i get these in the Uk?

Thirdly, I have read that the Axi 2208/20 is much low KV rating, so I would need to run on 5s lipo's? Is this true? I dont want to run higher the 3s.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
I've had a Himax 2025-4266 for a few months and it just stopped spinning freely as well. I assume this is what is meant by "seizing up." Strangely, as I had no crash or water damage I could think of. I've sent it back to Himax, hoping for a quick replacement, but who knows.

Incidentally, would you/anyone be able to tell me if that same motor (I bought the 4266 geared flavor) is fundamentally the same one as others have used on their Shogun 400s/Zooms? I'm hoping to be able to remove the gears, making it a 4200, and use it on my Shogun. Or is there some other difference?

Thank you,
Garth

Hi Wayne,

Just had my Himax 2025-4200 seize up as well. I had just got done doing some lazy eights and went into a hover then wham. Luckily I was only 2 feet off the ground and over soft grass. No damage except to the tail input gear and the motor of course. The only thing I did different on this flight was to put in a freash battery and fly again without a cool off period. My theroy is it got too hot and something inside let loose. Did you send yours back to Himax and get a replacement or did you go through the dealler that sold it to you?

Thanks!
Smitty
