Anybody who owns a HDX 500SE upgraded the landings skids on the heli. Because with the stock skids the tail rotor blades are almost touching the ground. Anyone have any idea where to purchase a nuch higher skids to fit the HDX 500SE. Thank you.

Numerous people have used the Gaui Hurricane 550 skids ...

Agreed on the Hurricane skids , they are a bit wider too and gives the heli a better stance , IMHO

here's a pic of what the gaui gear looks like on it but it is brittle and breaks easily, on some not so soft landings

You can also put a spacer between the frames and the rear strut and the tail will be high and clear of the grass.

The new Rotorworkz Version to come cures this problem more to follow on that!
but do as will stated add some spaces or stack washers under the back section on the landing gear to elevate the tail

I'll second the H550 landing gear works well.
It isnt a direct bolt on mod but with a rattail file and a few minutes work they fit.
I turn the rear landing gear around so that it is facing backwards, this makes the heli balance well without a lipo in and makes the skids look not so overly long.
I managed to break a set after I had a major lockout.

use this steel one is much better, stronger and much higher

Hi, I am using Helidirects new dayglow orange skids for the hurry 550, on my 3DX 500. They are supposed to be stronger, and are a little wider than stock Hurry skids. I also shortened the skids to look more in proportion, and used a spacer to elevate the tail.

I used the 450 version on my HDX450, They don't break but they certainly bend open on hardish landings YMMV

Just got the steel legs from HD and they are taller. But there is a down side and that they are quite a bit narrower than the plastics(4 3/4 in vs 5 3/4in). I may try to widen the stance and end up spacing these legs too.
