Fan shroud on a Stratus

Hi guys,

It might sound stupid but I would like to know whether or not you're drilling a big hole in your Stratus fan shroud at the carburator level... never had an issue before but just wondering whether or not it could improve my engine performance...

Yes, I do but I don't see significant defference. I drill because it touching the carburator level and not for engine performace improvement.

I cut the fan shroud. I remove material from where it contacts the head to all the way above the carb. Have done this for about 15 years now. I have tried to just cut a hole for the carb to stick thru the fan shroud. The engine would never run right, it was causing a vortex or similar effect and would not feed air to the carb correctly.
I think you will find most just cut a strip about 1 inch wide out of the fan shroud towards the engine. From the cylinder head to above the carb.
