Ok guys I want to post this on the Freak to see what kind of response it draws. I know this has been covered here and there, but I'd like to see a thread on some affordable options for batteries for this heli for good 3D performance. Since perhaps the greatest asset of this bird is its low cost, lets hear some experiences with batteries of various price ranges.

This is the basic type of setup I'd like to focus on since I think alot of people are interested in it:

*1100kv (or similar) motors (RCP, Z-power, or whatever else is comparable)
*6S (mostly 3S x 2 packs) battery setups
*CF blades (500-550 mm lengths)

***

Tell us briefly your:
-Motor
-Blades
-Headspeed (or even gear ratios)
-FLIGHT TIME
-EXACT BATTERY SETUP (Including approx $$)

There are plenty of great setups for mild 3D, long flighttimes, training setups or stock motor setups, but lets keep them for other threads and focus on affordable hi-performance here.

Thanks--Ron

the RCP H18 is a great choice for very good performance, it might not be the most efficient motor, but performance is great. I am using the H18, RCP 500 carbons, Revco gearing and 21t pinion, with 2 Evo 2500 3s pack ($80 each), performance is equal if not better then a Raptor 50 with a Muscle pipe. I also have used 7s A123 packs ($70) so less then 1/2 the cost of std lipo's) performance is not a strong but still performs well, I am now using 8s A123 packs ($80) and performance is awesome! I get 4.5 minutes on all packs.
If I were doing it again I would probably try the Z power motor, I believe it is a little more efficient. but I have not concluded if the Z20 or the Z30 is a better choice??
