hi everyone,
Charley has been working on the redesign of the frame of HDX500SA to make it work with 130T main gear to allow different gear ratio and can fit 6S set up.
Charley will update more on this new design.

Ok here is some of the updates some of the Rotorworkz Version frame features
I added a total of 5 battery tray mounting positions to allow better adjustment of CG
2 motor mount positions for 94T and 130T main gears to give WOW!!! numerous gear ratios
Elevated rear stance to allow plenty of clearance from tail blade to ground contact
Repositioned frame spacers to gain a stronger frame assembly
Raised the Anti rotation guide to allow more positive pitch cyclic
Added wire Zip tie positions to allow internal routing of servo wires
plus a few more minor changes below is some pics with 4 and 6s battery configurations
Enjoy!

Looking good Charley! Thanks for the hard work you have been doing to this bird. I'm sure I will be pleased when I can get my hands on one.:YeaBaby:

YES! Charley has been working on this heli to make it fly better and better. Thanks Charley!
New main gear 130T will show up next week.

Any pics of frame with new gear. Is the new gear a direct bolt on to the existing one way assembly?
helidirect

yes it is bolted directly to the old main gear. It is 1.5mm thicker than original main gear.
Charley will update the pix when he gets his new main gear next week. You can see that frame is already cut out enough to house the 130T main gear. Just waiting the main gear and we will have plenty of ratios.

Steve,
Will the (RV) be available in both the SE and SA versions of the HDX? Thanks!

Jeremy,
In future, we only sell frame of HDX500SA, no more frame of HDX500SE.
The HDX500SE will use the frame of HDX500SA.
So yes, later we will use this RV version for SE too.

So, is there something inherently wrong with the SE frame ?
LITHIUMSTATIC

The SA frame came after the SE, it has some things about it that are better like...
The servos being directly linked to the swash
It can accept more variations of battery packs
The SA frame has less parts
The SE frame doesn't have anything wrong with it from what I can tell. My buddy has it and it looks really nice.
I'm going to hold out for an all metal head & tail RV. Simply beautiful what Charley has done with it.

Charley,
Tell me about the servo horns on the heli pictured. They look different.

Thanks for posting pictures Charlie. Now I just wish I could get my hands on a kit.

Charlie, what is the Mod. on the main gear, I need to make sure I have pinions ready for motor trials. ;)

Matt,
It is the same as the original 94T which is .6 mod same as lepton and now T-rex 500

Looking forward to you testing new Rotorworkz stuff Matt!! You rule man, and I know Charley and you work together very well, as in the HFE and HFX!! Yea Baby!!

Matt,
It is the same as the original 94T which is .6 mod same as lepton and now T-rex 500Ahh, okay. I gotta get on the pinion search now, I have some motor ideas that I want to try out when I get my hands on this kit. Got my 601 issues sorted I think so the gyro is covered, just need to get my hands on the Rx, servos, and I should be good to go.
I'm looking forward to testing out the blue motor you were telling me about, sounds like a winner.

Yea Baby!!Hey thanks Will, but Charlie is the Master Mind of all the goodies !! We are fortunate to have someone like Charlie in the heli community and I was blown away when he asked me for input on the frames in the past. Seeing those ideas in production runs of frame sets leaves me at a loss for words and very excited to work with the new stuff coming out this winter.

What's with the length of those servo horns? Isn't that going to be kinda hard on the servos and not use their full resolution?

Bob,
The long arms are not for servo resolution but for Servo response "Speed" what you crave as a 3Der.
Servo resolution is for Scale and precision flying.
Having fast servos with a low resolution ie: Swash AFR (futaba) or Swash mix (JR Spectrum) allows you do speed maneuvers like Crack Rolls, Fast Tic tocs, Pitch Pumping etc....

What servos are you planning to use?
HS 85's I wouldn't think could handle all the torque with such long arms.
S9650's could handle it and could swing full travel about 5 times a second. Full travel collective and cyclic swings faster than 5 per second? Is that really necessary? I could be missing something but that just doesn't seem right.

I tested with HS85MG On 6 Volt shown in this video
http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=52625
But I will be switching to HS81MG on 6Volt which produce around 42 in.oz @.09 speed
In this video of bert flying a Rex 500 he is using 9257's which have 26 in oz and the arms are probably around 17-19mm long

Yes, 17 to 19 seems reasonable. I thought yours looked longer. Perhaps just perspective.

Yes the Subzero arms on this are 24mm but note I have done all kinds of maneuvers with all sorts of blades from poor to good that would flutter, fart, also with tracking issues etc... I have even ran the system on 5volts. They just keep going strong heck I have crashed 3 times now only thing I have noticed is you have a higher chance to strip gears but that is prone to any Heli, maybe a little more on direct linkage helis. But, the point is I do not see or feel any funny reactions or delays due to these servos or arms.
I am confident to say if you fly this setup you "WILL" be happy with results
Also the servo positions on this frame are still in stock location so you can still set it up with the shorter arms by simply turning the servo around

So you can use a TRex 500 motor? What is the recommended motor?
