Hi freaks!

Ok, I got a HBK2 and flew it a few times stock............ yeah, upgrade is needed. So I invested in:

AR600 RX (as I am using the DX7 for my T Rex 600 CF)
E Sky 3100 kv brushless motor (outrunner)
E Sky 24A ESC
T Rex 450 canopy (copter X ($4 compaired to $30 for a Rex canopy))
11t Pinion

She looks nice and has a mean head speed (will test that tomorrow at the field). Weight is 413g without battery and 503g with a 11.1V 1000mAH 3s Lipo.

I have a small problem, the curves seem VERY aggressive for such a small heli.

Here are the curves: And this is just to get it in a very low hover............
Normal Thro Curve:
L: 0
P1: 40
P2: 70
P3: 86
H: 100

Normal Pitch Curve:
L: 44 (-4 on the blade)
P1: 65
P2: 85 (0 on the blade)
P3: 92
H: 100 (+10 on the blade)

I'm not too worried about the ST1 and ST2 modes just yet, but it just seems that the curves are really agressive. I can get around +13, - 13 when in ST mode, so I know I have the head set up ok (not favouring + or -)

Any thoughts?

you may be a little low on head speed...I have run the 4200kv with a 9T pinion and currently a 3800kv with a 10T pinion....looks like your combo should be around 2500 rpm and both of mine a slightly over 2700 rpm....mine is right at 500g ready to fly...

Don't mean to hijack the thread. Have a quick question before we get back on topic...

Any info on where the safe RPM threshold might be for these stock wood blades? I'm considering the 3800kv w/ some 30A ESC. I'm thinking pinions are crucial here.

Be careful with the HS if you are using woodies, the stock plastic grips and the stock tail system. We had a stock set of woodies that got thrown out at around 2800 rpm. Another heli had a tail shaft bend at around 3000 rpm. Better upgrade the key parts before venturing into the high rpm HS range. I think the woodies by esky are a bit softer than the align pro blades. My HB cool is running a set of 315 align blades at 300 rpm head speed with a custom hardened tail shaft and upgraded to HDX silver 450 head(trex clone). Be careful out there.

Dang....

Didn't think of that when I bought the 10 pack of blades for $80! I am using the woodies, and have adjusted the thro curve to be at about 80% at half stick. Still haven't had the chance to test it out as yet. Thought Sunday would have been perfect weather, but it ended up raining all day.

So your suggesting getting the upgraded (pink) grips?

Do the upgraded grips fit in the standard head?

Thepurple metal grips only fit on to the metal head assembly, so you have to buy the rotor hub set. I used a set of modified micro heli grips though. another alternative is to get the trex clone head system from helidirect or cncheli.com

Are there any mod to do when using Align blades on the King 2 stock head? All my LHS stocks are eflite and trex. I took a set out last night on my 3rd hover ever. It wanted to always drift right. I think I need to recheck swashplate?

Thanks

The align blades are too long(325mm) The king 2 uses 275mm to 280mm blades. I order blades from helidirect or BP hobbies. If it drifts right to a little left trim to help it stay in one place. Also add a set of weights(wheel collars) on the flybar to make it easier to hover.Another thing to do is move the ball links with the z bend one hole towards the center of the servo arm.
