This is in an impossible location.... How are you guys changing a plug without dropping the engine?

There are 2 tools that I know of that will help you change it. Snap-On makes a small swivel socket that works well, although it is a bit expensive and the other option is to buy Craftsman.

I went to Sears and bought a Craftsman flex handle and a 1/4" swivel. The open end is 5/16" so you don't need any other socket to fit the plug. Total cost for both items is about $17.00. I'll try to take a picture of it and post it this afternoon. It works perfect and will save you hours of frustration.

Randy,

Here is the pic of my Viperhead glowplug wrench:

It is a Craftsman 1/4" Flex Spinner with a 5/16" swivel. The swivel is "thin walled" and this is important to get to the plug. Sears has both of these in stock - check them out and make your life alot easier.

Thanks a TON! I appreciate all the help..

I am a new MA owner and this was a little quirk I ran into. I figured someone had found a way around this issue.

Thx Again,

Randy

One other thing...

Since the primary plug is at an angle, I insert the end of the glow plug into some medium fuel tubing and twist the fuel tubing to "start" the plug into the Viperhead. I do this so I don't cross-thread the plug and the head. Once I have it screwed in, I use the tool to tighten it up. Hope this helps.

Vario makes a flexible plug wrench that works to, but as Robert said, you have to use fuel tubing to start the plug back in before you can tighten it with the flexible wrench.
