If you think you have static on the boom,
easy fix.
Get a carbon fiber brush, have the fibers brush the belt constantly, mount it, then ground the brush to battery negative and the motor mount.
The carbon brush or a stailess steel brush is the only effective way to nuetralize static build up on a belt. they make these specaily for the application.

I dunno what to say about this. even before I applied some Graphit 33 I never had any static issues show up on any 6003D. I did however apply some to all my 6003D belts because of the threads here but even then I do not see this issue.

Hmmmm remember how a Van De Graf generator works... Yes the belt can and does develop a potential BUT.... it is the constant build up of the belts potential onto a metal "tank" if you want to call it that. Without the static build up being stored somewhere the belt can only develop so much charge and probably NOT enough to do anything.
An isolated tail system with metal boom is the TANK and continues to build up and collect the charge from the spinning belt. Don;t think this is just a belt build up problem but more the tail system build up.

Hmmmm remember how a Van De Graf generator works...
The key is that a Van De Graaff generator requires a dielectric belt to carry the charge. If it's conductive, it won't work. Thus a coat of graphite should be a good cure as well - probably a simpler one than grounding both ends.

Shawn, I didn't see this either until it got dry and windy here. The tail started to kick and I'm guessing thats what took out my WR BEC. The graphite lube, while it is messy, just not as bad as nitro, works here. I put it on every other trip out to the field and takes all of a minute to apply.

I spray the Graphit 33 onto a rag and apply on with rag while spinning blades, not messy at all. In fact by the original application point comes around it is dry on the belt and even after a few flights there is no residue anywhere.....
You might be using something different but I can assure you the Graphit33 spray is clean application by rag and is a non messy product while in use. :o

One app of Graphit 33 lasts 100s of flights, works on Trex 500s also.

I think we need to find a mechanical solution for this problem and I for one dont want to spray my belts.
Any comments?

You don't really spray the belt, you apply to rag and wipe on thin layer. It does not deteriorate the belt in any way at all, it was designed for it, and as John states it last hundreds of flights. This is not a WD-40 type stuff or anything like that. I am sure you could ground this, ground that like peeps are doing with the t-rex 500 but I don't see the point of all that. The static issue on the 600s is not that big of a deal, I didn't even see it before applying Graphit 33 to be honest, I just did it as a pre caution based on a few people seeing static on the big boom. The reason some are seeing the static in dry conditions imho is due to the belt material and the large boom, I know they are working on it at Mikado but they want a 100% solution, now is that a different belt or what... at this point I do not know, all I know is a wipe of Graphit33 does the trick for now.

I bought 2 cans of Graphit 33 from Bonzai Musical Effects, about 2 week delivery to Texas.

I also talked to a US RC products distibuter who is looking into importing this product.

Good flying with you today John!!! I just placed an order for Graphite 33 from the website you listed. $28.63 total for one can shipped from Germany.

Hi all,
Shawn where are you getting the graphit 33? Is there somewhere local (here in Canada) that stocks it, or did you order from overseas also? Got 3 packs through my new logo and would hate to see it destroyed because of a little static.
Thanks,

Got it from Real Raptorz UK a year ago or so. If you are going to SHAG funly in a few weeks in Saskatoon let me know, I'll bring it and we can treat your setup there.

I had to re-apply to one heli after about 200 flights. The outside of hte belt was still dark and shiny, but the edges were really needing it.

Thanks Shawn,
I haven't decided on Shag yet (not likely) but appreciate the offer. I will likely just order some, I like to own stuff. LOL Probably will have other uses for it once I get it as well.

That's too bad, best event in the country and its in the province you live in, you should go you would not regret it.

Is this static problem just on the Logo 600, or is the 500 at risk as well?

Just the 600 and only in extreme dry conditions, it is due to the belt material, the 500 belt is entirely different. One small application of Graphit33 on my 600 belts and never one issue in regards to static.
Flying my 500 3/d I have been getting what appears to be a static discharge affecting my tail servo or gyro. Once per flight my tail would make a rapid twitch. Well after lubing my belt and at the same time swapping out a cchv45 for a cchv85 the tail twitch was gone but led to new problems. 3 times the cc hv 85 reset to the default settings. I grounded the boom and motor plate to the negative battery lead and all is fine now. I have used this esc in another heli before so I know it is ok.

Put Graphite 33 on the belt man.
I had put tri-flow on the belt. I wish somebody in the us would sell graphite 33.I think grounding the boom and motor mount is the way to go but I just hate adding any more wiring.

You can have a can of Graphite 33 sent to your door for $27. Read above and you will find a link to the German website that sells it.

Think any one will come out with a torque tube drive conversion. I hate belts more than i hate my synergy tail gears stripping out without the proper (soft stopping) gryo settings.

Graphic 33 did not work - still discharging badly. Trying something else recommended to me call Armor All. Its used to clean vinyl ect in cars.

Seriously Graphit33 did not work??? Honestly 100% truthfull I use this stuff, I swear by it and it has completely eiminated static in the Logo as well as several other helis I have had and have now currently. Weird!!!
