Finaly finished with my trex 600 n pro.
I had my first flight this afternoon. I started with 1,5 turn out on the needle valve on my Os 50 hyper. It was very rich. Fuel came out from the muffler. Had also problem to get the engine to idle I adjusted the throttle trim but then it stopped again. I also had tail wagg but it seems like this changed with the rpm on the head is this correct. Will the wagging be better when I am finished tuning in the engine?
I see in the manual that with 1,5 turn on the needel vale and the engine is slow to pick up and produces an excess of exhaust smoke you have to adjust mixture control screw. Is it normal to adjust this screw? I thought the only thing you adjust was the needle valve? I don't think the wagging comes from the gyro. I have a 401 mounted back. And I have now 38% AVC in the radio(9c). I tried too adjust this but it did not do anything with the wagging. I am thankful for advices

Ok ,

start with the engine tuning first, 1.5 turns out is rich, use this setting to break in engine, you could turn it in a few clicks to get better response. once engine is broken in you should end up with about 3 quarters to one turn out on the needle valve. don't adjust the idle screw that is set a factory as standard, I have never really need to adjust mine.

make sure that you have set up your throt servo. pull your throt / collective stick down, then make sure you pull your trim all the way down, set this so that your carb is closed, this will let you turn off you engine. then you will have to set the trim for idle, this will be around the top, but you will have to check as yours might be a bit diff.

with that done you can then look and see if you still have a wag in your tail, if its gone all is good, if not then there might be some thing not right , depending on how bad it is. if it is only slight, then it may be any number of things, make sure that you have not over tightened the screws in the pitch slider, make sure that you have a silky smooth action on the tail. you could try reducing your gain on the gyro a bit more. there really is not one answer to this.

If you are getting a big wag then it will be more obvious to the cause. just take your time and go throw the whole tail..

OK I will try that. But I use trottle cut switch on my radio so I adjusted so that when my trhottle stick are all down the engine is little bit off the close mark against open.

Another thing. On your radio / gyro page. Verify you have it in GY mode and one value is plus and the other is minus. You can verify this by moving the rudder stick to one side and letting go. One channel 5 switch position should result in the servo staying off center (AVCS / Heading Hold ) mode and the other switch position should result in the servo returning quickly to center. You can also look at the light on top of the gyro. If it's solid, it's in AVCS mode. Always be sure it's in AVCS mode when you turn your receiver switch on.

There's a difference between a wag and hunting. Hunting is a lot faster and almost violent. It's caused by the gain being too high. Wagging is slower and is caused by things like Aevans692 was talking about. Mainly something interfering with smooth pitch change in the tail.
