Where is everyone's swash setting at? In particular Aileron and Elevator?

I am at 60% for Aileron and 75% for Elevator.

Someone posted they are at 100% for both without binding, find that hard to believe since I found severe binding with the Aileron at 100%

That's meaningless unless you know the length of the servo arms, if they have shorter servo arms its possible its maxed out and not binding.

Assuming you have followed the manual and the ball link is 12.5mm from the servo center, smart alec.

I think I have mine at about 68 for the elev and ail/pit are about 73, setup is per the manual.

I'm running -60 on both Aileron and elevator and +45 on Pitch. Not sure if that is correct but it gives me -10 to +10 pitch and no binding on any servos.

Just set mine up.

+60 Aileron
+60 Elevator

How does the swash Exp work on the DX7? Got mine last week and it is a HUGE adaption from the Futaba 6EX I used before.

not 100% sure
Runryder usre group got nice post.
as far i can gather it reducuces the swash interaction when you use collective and cyclic same time. some people say that rolls are much rounder with it on..
try it with on first, but make sure you don't have more than 10 on the subtrims, otherwise you going to start to run into problems.

It removes negative expo caused by the circular motion of the servo arm. Turn it on and leave it on. It will cause the control rod movement to be more linear throughout the range of stick motion. It helps to remove swashplate interactions. The reports are a heli that "feels" more linear. JR recommends it be turned on in most cases.

Hey guys. I'm a noob and a little confused. A local heli guru set up my mini-Titan like this:

AILE + 46
ELEV + 46
PIT - 64

However, I thought this was not the expo screen. It appears this just adjusts the "throw" of the servo and does not effect expo in any way. When he set it up I tried going up to +57 on AILE and ELEV but felt the lower values were easier for me to keep it under control. The swash already "feels" less sensitve around center stick so if I "dont" have any Expo dialed in I don't know that I want any.

I'm brand new to helis and have only 6 flights on this mini-Titan, my 1st non-coaxial heli so I need to go SLOWWWWW.

Thanks for any insight here.

What is it that you are looking for? If you want to maximize your cyclic abilities then you could put them back up to +57. You can still keep things smooth by then adding expo.

You are right, what he changed wasn't the expo it was the throws. In effect what he did was set a permanent dual rate to tame the chopper down. If you want the ability to roll it quickly, put them back up and then use the expo screen to tame the center stick response down. Or.... leave it as it is until you are more comfortable flying it. Myself I would go with full throws and expo just for the fact that if you are up high (where you should be once you can hover decently) and you do something wrong, you have the capability to roll/pitch quickly to recover. Slow controls are great for learning, but sometimes you need the speed. And, like I said, expo will keep it tame around mid-stick.

Your best bet would be to talk to the guy who set it up for you (your instructor, or close enough to be) and see what he thinks. Could be he never thought of doing it that way, or that he thinks it would just get you in trouble at your current skill level.

Thanks ghtracey!

That is exactly what he did. I guess after he saw my first flight he thought he better keep it tame since I'd only be trying to hover.

I do like your idea of raising the cyclic values back up and just turning on expo but he's the teacher so I'll just take it one baby step at a time and leave it where it is until I'm more comfortable.

I actually had a small accident last Sat. trying to turn toward me from about 18" off the ground and try nose in hovering. BAD IDEA!!! Broke a blade, landing skids, and skid frame mounts. Just got it repaired and put new blades on. This was only my 6th flight with a collective pitch heli.

He did say I was much improved from the first week though which was encouraging.

For the record, my elev and aileron swash are now 75 percent.

Speed up the flippy goodness :D

Kasama head, no binding.

I added 5 percent expo to both axis.
