HI guys

I got to maiden my heli yesterday and all I can say is, WOW!

This thing is so stable it is ridiculous.

Just by chance ( and maybe the 6 hours of tinkering with the head) it flew perfectly with no trim adjustments or tracking needed. The only thing that changed thru the day was the gyro gain (from 55% to 38%) and the needle valve.

Unfortunately I had radio issues on the 5th tank and busted up one main blade and stripped the front TT gears. I am sure it had something to do with my QuikUK baseloaded antanae, I should have done a range check before flying but the excitement (and a little fear) bypassed that step!

For all you people thinking about going up in size, go for it!!

Congrats, I feel the same way about mine. Too bad it's freezing here:(

If anything it was too hot here.
Wiping sweat off the face with oily hands isnt a good look. :)

I go and pickup the parts needed for repairs in an hour and I reckon by 10:00 tonight it will be flyable again.

Am going to get the Align 2200 Lipo for the added weight. I needed to hold back elevator when I was inverted so that suggest to me rearward CofG. the extra 40 grams or so ought to get it absolutely perfect.

You had to hold "Back Elevator" when inverted?

Yeah, hence he'd be tail heavy...

This assuming tail-in inverted hover...

yep a little.
back elevator is back elevator nose in or tail in.

Hey Mick.... Good to hear you got it going and sorry to hear about your radio issues :(

I just got my bag of goodies, now just have to wait a couple of hours till my son is in bed and then full speed ahead on the repairs. The wife doesn't like it when I work on my helis when he is still awake, how the hell he is supposed to learn how to maintain my helis if he doesn't get to see how its done is a mystery to me.

I am hoping I don't have to change out feathering shaft and main shaft. I did lose the link to the main blade grips so that at least will need to be rechecked.

Oh well I needed something to work on!!

Congratulations Mick,

Bad luck with your glitch though, lucky you came off lightly.

You might want to stock up on TT front gears. Align sell them in packs of 3 for a reason;)

I kinda figured that out!!
Anything that comes in packs of multiples is going to get trashed a lot.
I am just downloading Mercuriell (http://www.helifreak.com/member.php?u=13838)'s HOw to video for the TT front gears, I am thinking it is take the whole back end off and in you go. 50% DLed so i will soon find out.
Do the tail set of gears have the same desire to commit themselves to the afterlife??

So, 1 TT front bevel gear repair = 45 minutes.

Not that much grief either. It will get easier with practice which I am sure is coming :)

I've only stripped front gears. I would rather lost teeth of those than the main gear I have to say!

Oh I don't know about that.

Main gear removal you can get away with only :
remove the bottom Jesus bolt and one servo to swash link then the head lifts high enough for main gear extraction. Then five little screws and finished.

Sure beats the 20 that I just did!

I think I will try for longer before having to repair this thing again. :)

I second that, I prefer by far flying my 600N Pro than my old 450se

Crashing on the weekend allowed a few changes to be made.

I have installed a Thunder Tiger Header tank, didnt think it was necessary but was advised to do it by the club hotshots.

I have removed the Quick UK Baseloaded antanae and put on a LONG standard wire, that looks out of place after not having anything but the BaseLoaded ones for 10 months.

Got my starter sorted, now I can go flying unassisted.

Bring on the weekend!
