Alright guys, I talked to a few people at this years fall Hodges heli fly in and there seems to be interest in having an event in the spring as well as the fall. The event will be April 4th and 5th 2008. The event will be held at the Hodges Hobbies field in Andersonville, Ga. Mark your calenders!

Please visit Hodges Hobbies (http://www.hodgeshobbies.com) for directions and local hotel info. RV hookups available and a fully stocked hobby shop on site!

I'd say the 17th would probably be better since MHA is usually the 1st weekend in June. Having events like that back to back are kinda tough.

Ok just realized the 17th is also the weekend of Joe Nall so thats no good. The 24th is also Memorial Day weekend so that could be a good one. I spoke to Mac again today and he'll have more info for me tomorrow as to which weekend in May will be open.

Mike - I've never heard anyone complain that there were too many good heli fly-ins to attend. :bawl:YeaBaby:

It's getting to be a huge problem. More heli events than weekends available. We may have to have more weekends.

I vote 17th so as it doesn't conflict with Chattanooga.

Then the 17th will conflict with Jacksonville which has always been a great event.

This hobby is truly turning into NASCAR with events every weekend, only problem is that we actaully have twice as many events as NASCAR.

I already have 20 events scheduled for 2008! :DOH:bawl

You guys complain about everything. Not enough events, now too many events.Back when I started it was about only one event a month from about May to October. Flew to CA a couple of times just to attend an event. Now the hobby has grown and there is 3 -4 events every weekend thru out the year all across the country. Just choose the ones you want to go to and not worry about the other ones. You can't be at all of them.
As for the organizers of events. Just set the date and hold the event. You will drive yourself nuts trying to figure out a date for an event. Once you start having an event, keep the date the same. I have been putting on an event for 15 years, it has always been on the same weekend. 2008 it is one weekend earlier due to Easter falling on the normal event weekend. Most of the events I attend are events that have been held for a long time.

Mike - Just teasing about too many events, I know its hard to get the time off work for that many in a row not to mention lots of driving.

capebob - I vote more weekends

David - Its certainly hard to find an open weekend, but like you said its great to have so many events to choose from.

It looks like the month of May is full as of now. After speaking at length with Mac and doing a little more research it looks like April 5th will be better. I havent seen any conflicting events yet on the 5th, but if there are please let me know.

I like Mac's so if there is a Spring event, I'd like to be there. I'd be complaining if I missed.

Keep us posted on the dates!

The event is going to be April 4th and 5th. As always it'll be a laid back atmosphere with lots of open flying. I'll start working on a flyer and some cool T-shirts, you guys spread the word.

Hope everyone can make it!

Here's the T-shirt design guys. Thanks to Rob Jones and Mike Reece for the shirts! It also looks like we might get some full scale heli action at the event, but I cant give away the details just yet :fly
How about a head count of those who plan on attending?

Mike Swift Mac's flying site is totally awesome and you wouldn't believe the on site hobby shop.
Not to mention you can get cases of fuel at the "best" prices anywhere.

JoeScott

Ditto on the great fuel prices. Anyone who plans on buying a case or more of fuel (30% Cool Power) at the event please PM me so I can give Mac an idea of how much to have on hand. It'll be a great time to stock up for spring/summer flying!

What kind of pricing are we talking about? If you can beat the local prices for me here in S.C. - I'd buy a case.
