Hi all, since this sim need some swap pages (like other sim), i think that user like me need some variant posted/shared from all of you.

Be the first, this is my variant of T600 nitro red;

This variant have "gear" related adjustment for better autos like gear friction setting, robustness and lowering CG to get something smooth slide movement in autos.

Please use winzip to extract this file to your documents folder like:
C:\Documents and Settings\"yourlogginname"\My Documents\PhoenixRC\Variants\helicopters\trex600ni tro_red_3Dreal.fly

or example for me; (in mine; with loggin as "DeVIN") to:
C:\Documents and Settings\DeVIN\My Documents\PhoenixRC\Variants\helicopters\trex600ni tro_red_3Dreal.fly

Sorry for my bad English. Just try to make some contribution for this community.

Cheers.

Good news, got an email from Phoenix support team,..

Hi Devin

Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions.

We are intending to create a swap site for variants, recordings and eventually new paint schemes.

Reagrding the repainting the models, we are currently working very hard on a painting tool whch will allow you to repaint any Phoenix model in full 3D - more information on this will be on our website in the near future.

Best Regards

PhoenixRC Support

Did you ask Phoenix if they are going to improve the sound effects for heli blades and wind etc.?

hey guys here's my trex 600n variant .fly file. Its saved as a .txt so will need renaming.

i've changed some of the numbers a fair bit, but I think it now flies pretty close to my 600n with metal grips, infinivation dampers and radix blades. my real one doesn't actually weigh 7 kg, but it seems to make it sit in a hover more like mine does! I haven't played with it in autorotations much, so i'm not sure if works very well there yet.

hope you like it

Hi Squareben. Nice. What is your simulation speed for this variants?? I feel it so twitchy, here in 100% speed.

How do you change it back to a .fly file?

Hi, raptor3dpilot. Download the files to your computer. Use explorer and renaming *.txt to *.fly and put it to eg;in mine - "C:\Documents and Settings\DeVIN\My Documents\PhoenixRC\Variants\helicopters\ trex600nitro_red_squareben.fly"

PS; DeVIN is my login name; must be different to yours

Just to be sure in your explorer you got to "show file extension". To check this setting; use explorer, find Tools menu, Folder Options, pick Views tab, and uncheck Hide extension for known file types to show whole file name included extension.

Man you don't know how long I've wanted to know how to show the extensions! That worked perfectly!

Once again THANKS!

hey devindh,

i run my phoenix at 100 to 105% depending on what i'm doing. My graphics card is pretty low spec though, so maybe that makes it more docile for me! i can usually only get 40 to 50 fps.

i'm still fiddling with the cyclic response and damper values so i'll let you know if i get a better combination.

Ok Ben, ,........................

It is a new issue now,.....................
"The variant cant be shared as easy like this",

cause in my system with 100% speed, full 60 fps, your variant so twitchy. Its character different in yours,....

Some parameters from your GPU-VGA, RAM setting (maybe), is the key. I hope your understand my bad english.

Cheers.

It's not a helicopter... but here is my Variable Pitch ShiftRotor. It's alot of fun and gets rid of stress after a session of training.

You have to make sure your 3 pos switch is set to control the tilt, and set your throttle curve to a V under System_yourcontrols

All I did was just make the pitch range like a helicopter (+10/0/-10) and lightened it to 25lbs.

Uhhh not sure how to make the screenshot come up without clicking it... but oh well. :)

Here is mine,..........................try.

Unzip ???recording (*.rec) to C:\Documents and Settings\(your login)\My Documents\PhoenixRC\Recordings

Rename ???.txt to ???.fly to C:\Documents and Settings\(your login)\My Documents\PhoenixRC\Variants\helicopters

Cheers.

For those flying the 500 on Phoenix, in case you have not noticed, and I dont see how you couldn't, the left drift effect is way overboard. See image below of angle held for steady hover. The red is the 500. Thats more like hovering it a 10 mph wind from the right. Anyway below the image is a link to a variant I did, which to me is more lifelike. I also added some vortex lift loss effect so the heli actually drops after settling. This one autos more like mine as well.

Now you put it on helifreaks...it would have been easier yesterday for me to find it . Good job on the variant though. I also look forward to practicing my autos with you guys later.

have a good one

Hi, Socal
Thanks for the 500 variant!!
I'm building my 500 now, and I'm about to setup pitch range on it.
If your variant feels like your 500. What are your collective and cyclic pitch range? Do you know?
I'm aiming for something like +12/-12 collective and 7 cyclic. Would that be something like your variant?

Running 6S 13T with 14 +/- and about 8 cyclic I think. Flying the way I fly mine it feels the same to me with some minor exceptions.

Hi guys! I saw someone fly a T-Rex 500 Red canopy variant model in a session today and was referred to HF site when I asked where he got his but couldn't find it here. I checked the Phoenix website but couldn't find it either except the original yellow canopy. Can anyone point to the thread or link here where I can find & download it fast? Thanks in advance...:DOH
