Just curious as to how the 2 carbon frames compare? the Gaui stacked Carbon frame vrs the custom Heli parts frame? the Gaui frame looks cool but I think I like the battery versatility of the custom frame better? I plan on upgradeing from my plastic after christmas but haven't decided on which one yet? anyone crashed one yet? any issues with either? likes dislikes? I am running A123 packs and I believe the Gaui frame isn't as suited for A123?

Well, I finally got my packs to fit in the Gaui CF frame, but it is a tight fit, and only have place for 7S.
The problem are the canopy I have, the stock plastic that are to small, but it can just bee there now with 7S.
The CG are almost perfect. A little bit nose-heavy, but not much.
I have placed the little reciever-battery (2S 1000mah) on top of the reciever, far back.
Have not tryed it yet, as it looks that I have a bad cell, or solder point :-(
My charger cut out in the middle of the charging, saying "connection lost" .....
I would test it as soon as possible by running it at idle up and some degrees negative pitch on ground until the batteries are empty, and let it do some cycles on the charger before I try it airborne, as it can be that charging and decharging two different packs with varied cycles on the charger might fool the balancer and/or the charger (I had build another setup where the whole pack had been cycled about 10 times on the charger, but used 3 unused cells when I had do redo the layout of the packs).

Why don't you add an extra A123 to that bottom set of packs and move them back into the frame?
I just made up a CF plate for the bottom of my Gaui frame and I shunt one of my LiPos as far back as I need in order to get CofG right...

That was my first setup, but than they would be to low, and the canopy cant come on.
If I need more power later on, I think Im going for a couple of 6S lipo, perharps some that also can fit in a T-Rex 500 ;-)

I think you'd struggle with two 6S packs that were also suitable for a Trex 600. They would be too big / heavy for the 550.
I'm sure the heli would lift and fly well with 550 blades but the packs would likely not fit (getting the top pack under the canopy would be difficult) and the CofG would be a challenge with a 6S pack on the top battery mount.
I use two 5S 2300s and I have to have the bottom pack pushed back pretty much as you see it in the photograph (not quite, front of the pack aligns with the front of my CF tray to give spot on CofG). My top pack is as far back on the top tray as it can go and leave a little clearance for the z30.
For a Trex 600 (12S) you'd really want at least 2600MaH 6S packs and I just think the weight would be too much for CofG on the 550.

I was talking about a TREX 500, not 600 :-)
I bought the Hurri instead of a 600 because the cost of the batteries, but also because I was tired of waiting for a 500. Well, but now the 500 are in sight for next season.
Back to the frame that Concept1 asked for, it looks, out of the pictures, that a Custom frame will fit better, if A123 are what you wont to fly with.

I have the ReadyHeli CF frame, using a 6S 3700 FP Evo25, which fits just fine. However, I had to add about 1 ounce at the end of the tail to balance it out, but am hopeful I can just move the tail servo out onto the boom at some point instead.
All said, my takeoff weight is now at 4 lbs 15oz. It will be 4 lbs 14oz once I can take off the dead weight. :)
