I'm thinkin about building a 600 N and I have four (4) 8717's ..... Is there anything wrong with using one on the throttle?

No but it is probably viewed as slight overkill. My theory is why risk an 8717 being damaged in a crash when a S3151 does the job for 1/3 of the price. Then if you do damage a 8717 in a crash you can replace it with ur spare.

How about the JR 3400G for throttle? Light fast and durable ($70).

Im running brushless futaba 451's for cyclics and throttle and the 611 251 combo on the tail, it is lightning fast, and so precise.:YeaBaby::thumbup:

I would be more interested in finding a suitable throttle servo that wouldn't drain as much power out of the battery than finding a cheaper one.

Another point to make is that if your curves are right or you're running a gov., then you're not changing the engine RPM, only the load.
