Thinking about upgrading my dx7 radio and buy a the new jr 9303 radio. Not sure its worth it, but I need to keep researching it. It could be a pain to change over all the different settings on my models saved. If you have the new 9303 radio do you like it and will it be worth the change over?

thanks

Literally just got my X9303 today. I have started transferring settings, but still have a ways to go. I think it will be worthwhile for a number of small reasons. Overall, it's got a nicer feel and build. Full face aluminum is a nice touch too. The roller instead of the toggle is another little improvement.

I'd suggest you go over the features and see whether this resolves any issues you have with the DX7. For many/most folks, I bet it's not a huge difference. I'm not trying to say I'm special, as I am not finding it hugely different either.

The biggest reason for me is that it gives me more slots to play with for my V-Bar, since AUX2 is a three-position switch instead of the DX7's two. Like I said, it's a small difference...

Thanks for the update, I've been doing some reading up on the x9303 and I think I'll go for it, couple of reasons. That data 2 software option let's you back up your models on your personal computer, even lets you email your settings to a friend with the same radio. It looks like it could be pain to change over my two Trex 450's over to the 9303 but I'll start fresh on my Trex 500 when I get it. Still trying to justify the money, maybe more lipo's would be a better investment.

Copying the numbers over is supposed to be pretty close. The only issue I know of is setting up the gyro on a 6 channel receiver requires you to set the gain via endpoints (ATV) rather than the gyro menu.

I've only done my "easy" ones thusfar - the Blade CX/2 which was trivial, and the Logo, where most all of the config is on the V-Bar. I hope to have time today to tackle the T-Rex 600.

Even though I have a x9303 watching the Finless video of the radio cleared up a few gray areas for me.
I will be using a JR X9303 radio with this heli so I thought I would do a quickly overview of setting up the radio. I plan to do a full blown setup another time but this should help some people get started. Next vids will go into more menus for doing servo setup.

I bought my new x9303 today, decided to make the upgrade, I drove down to
www.rchover.com and talked to Jeremy and he set me up with a great deal, plenty in stock. I',m glad I upgraded, should be great in my new Trex 500

I have a DX7 and a 9303 ("regular", with 2.4 module... but that's really irrelevantly as we're discussing programming).

I have transferred models between the two by the "Copy the numbers" technique, and that gets you very close (as long as no custom mixers or other 'special' stuff). Just a little tweaking and you're there.

As for gyro... I run this on the gear channel in all my TXes for two reasons: First, I like the more direct mapping of numbers to GY series gyros. Meaning, + endpoint is roughly equal to HH gain and - endpoint roughly equal to rate gain; no mental math required. Second, there is enough variation in "Gyro Menu" between various transmitters that I don't want to remember them all...! Gear endpoints work the same everywhere.

Having said all of that... the DX7 is very workable. The 9303 is just "nicer", in many, many ways.
