Does anyone know whether there is any documentation out there yet for the 12X? Is there a site that has some better photos of the transmitter other than the single little thumbnail on the Horizon site? Also, do you know if it comes with the 9-channel receiver like the x9303 or is it a full 12 channel receiver? I'm still on the fence on placing my pre-order at Horizon. I guess someone's got to be first and drive the price down for everyone else... :o

JR listing says it comes with the 12 ch Rx. http://www.jrradios.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=JRP1200
MacGregor's site in the UK has lots of pics: http://www.macgregor.co.uk/radio/12X.htm
The pics are of a PCM version they received to see and handle.

I wonder if there are any plans to release a Li-Po powered versions :thinking
I would also like to see a mechanical throttle trim but thats just me!

I just saw in a new Horizon catalog that you can buy a USB adapter to up/down load from the x9303. That is one of the most attractive features that I had heard for the 12X. I didn't realize that was possible for the x9303. Boy, unless you've got a lot of scale gizmos on your heli that require a lot of separate control channels, the 12X is losing its shine for me.
Honestly, help me out here. I have one on pre-order but I'm having second thoughts. Other than the extra channels, what does it bring to the table over the x9303 other than the metal-alloy frame and ball-raced gimbals? It has the little "tilty-ball" thing on the antenna but that's pretty much useless for the 2.4G systems with the folding antenna, allowing you to keep it pointed up (90 degrees to model provides best range). I wanna buy this thing but even my hobby extravagances have their limits...
BTW: Am I right in assuming that, like the DX7, the 9303 has no ball-bearings on the sticks?

From the Tech Notes
Tech Notes
System Requirements:
OS: Microsoft WindowsXP, Windows 2000
CPU: Intel Pentium II 450 MHz or higher
With XP being taken off the market in June 08. Seems like it will be obsolete. All the newer PC's come with Vista now.
This just looks like an updated version of the Data Safe that JR has had for a few years. The 10X used the same type data transfer.
Works with XP9303, X9303 2.4, 10X air, and 10X heli

Interesting. Looks like Horizon bumped up the due date for the 12X from mid-June to mid-May. Anyone else have different news?

Does anybody know if 12X has a air and heli version like 9303 or will be only on version? I am asking that because I would like to about the switches... the idle will be on the left side?
I would like to know too if there the programming menu of 12X is the same as 9303 or has any difference between both of them.
Thanks

Programming menu pics on the MacGregors site. They are the UK importer/distrbutor.
Looking at the JR page, no separate versions, but I think the switches are MUCH mroe assignable than the 9303.

Fernando,
As for a heli version and airplane version. If the past history is anything to go with. Horizon will have JR do a heli version and airplane version 12X. That is what they have done in past years with other models of JR radios that have been released. One example is what the rest of the world knew as the 9X. Horizon didn't like that radio and had JR do the 9303. Basically the same radio with a few different features.

David, if you check the JR (US) site and Horizon, they list the same radio (same part number) under both Air and Heli. They list both as A/S/H.

Yes I would think they list same part number. I agree the radio has programming for Airplane/Sailplane/Heli.
But I don't think many heli pilots would like the ratchet on the throttle,
In Japan there is two versions of the 12X, Heli and Airplane
http://www.jrpropo.co.jp/jpn/propo/pcm12x.html
They sell a heli version
http://homepage1.nifty.com/ishiimokei/english/radio/propo/jr_all.htm#JR-??PCM12X_HELL
They sell an airplane version
http://homepage1.nifty.com/ishiimokei/english/radio/propo/jr_all.htm#JR-??PCM12X_PLANE
So I would think Horizon here in the USA would sell a Heli version and Airplane version
Since delivery date is still 4-5 months away for the USA. Things could change with there description.

Should be interesting since Horizon only lists a single version on their website which I pre-ordered (can't decide yet whether to bail out and go with the 9303). Based on the fact that you can go and leave a CC# and place an order on their site, I'm very confident that there will only be one version (except of course for Mode 1/2). The stock number has A/S/H in it. As for the ratchet, my DX7 (airplane version) came with a replaceable tension strap to eliminate the ratchet. I'm sure that could be the case for the 12X also.

I want to get this radio for its lighted display and the magnesium casing. The back light display should even be standard on the X9303. I would be very happy if the was the case with mine. Does anyone here know how to 'add' a light on the X9303's display besides shining a flashlight onto it :) That's my biggest gripe on it cause I have to get the angle just right at times when viewing it even when there's ample lighting available.
Why does JR always seem to be so slow at bringing stuff out and miles behind the rest?
Don’t get me wrong I am a JR man, owning a 9 and 10x but I can’t help feeling they are always behind Futaba. Now I might be about to open a huge can of worms here but Futaba have had their flagship 14mz radio out for a while now and JR haven’t even released the 12x.
The 14mz has loads more features and a colour screen two (I know looks aren’t everything but lets be honest they do help)!!!
I also must admit I was disappointed to hear JR have dropped the touch screen for the 12x as I have always liked that.
But all that said I will still be treating myself to a 12x and I guess good things come to those who wait!!!
Now come JR, chop chop!!!
