I can't believe that this "top of the line" charger combo doesn't come with a power supply.. For nearly $300 bucks, you would think it had one built in.
What power supply are you guys using?

I built my own from a PC power supply.

Is that a fairly safe\easy task?

If you have some fairly basic electronic skills, it's easy to do.
Here are the best set of instructions I've ever come across:

Also, note that there are several links on the above page, those links have a lot of information as well.

DIfferent wattage computer power supplies put out different amounts. I made mine out of a 500W ANtec ($65 at Office Depot), and it puts out 38 amps.

Depends on how many watts. To get watts, you mulitply the voltage to amperage. To get amps, you divide watts by volts, and so on.
Like eurylokhos PS is 500W and divide that by 12V = around 41amps. But you have to take efficiency and fan draw into account. So he says he gets about 38A, I guess aroud 95% efficiency. I am by no means any electrical expert tho. Maybe Kgfly or a more knowledgeable member can comment.

Also most power supplies are rated at the total wattage, which includes the 12 volt rails (what we want) 5 volt rails, -12 volt rails, 3.3 volt rail, etc.
So you have to look at the specs of each power supply for the amps or watts on the 12 volt rail or rails.
The good news is, the modern highpowered systems use a LOT of 12 volt power, so the 12 volt rails are very robust.
The Antec Basiq 500 watt power supply has 2 - 12 volt rails, each capable of supplying 18 amps, so 36 amps total. The Antec Neopower 550 puts out 18 amps per 12 volt rail, but it has 3 such rails, so a total of 54 amps of 12 volt power. (I picked Antec as they were mentioned in this thread).
Computer power supplies may also have minimum amp draws (the Antecs above need a minimum of 1 amp draw on each rail), so you have to make sure that you build in that draw with lights or resistors. Otherwise the PS may drop off line or output screwy voltages.

Again, look at the label on them. Older coputer power supplies won't provide the high amp 12 volts, as it wasn't needed. But modern system run a separate 12 volt feed line to the graphics cards and other things.

I'm using an older Antec 450W PS, 28A before it trips off measured with an ammeter.
IF you intend to use the duralite charger to charge your rx/tx packs, you will want to tap one leg each of -5v and +12 for 17VDC/ .08A.
I've also got an Antec basiq set aside, one day...

I quess I have to define "old". :)
I have an older PC Power and Cooling 300 watt power supply that only supplies 12 amps of 12 volts. But it is from the early days of ATX.
