"xmas present to yourself" ? will you get mad at yourself for opening it early? lol..
I lucked out this year and gave my daughter and wife two separate "wish list" from
two different HS's..... All Hurri parts....a little bling and a few tools... Now if the
postman (Santa) will just hurri up and deliver my hurri parts....

most of the other items needed to build it are gifts. that's what is screwing me right now. oh well, i've got the whole week of newyear's off from work to build it. now if the weather would cooperate.....

The build is not weather dependant. :)
Of course, getting it done and not being able to fly it would be killer. :)

That’s right and this why my Christmas have arrived a bit earlier, in November when i got mine with most of the upgrades.
Now I can spend most of the holidays flying around and enjoying this great heli.
Istandalone if I was you i wouldn't wait.........
Enjoy

Are you addicted to "flying" or "BUYING" lol..
you have quite a fleet....
Do you have a good Sim program?... If not get one...it will pay for itself in parts down the road..

I have the phoenix but I was having trouble with usb module so I grounded it. I purchased clearview but haven't don't anything with that either. I think I will sit down after the holiday's and really buckle down and learn something..
I was actually into reef aquariums and I traded a guy some coral for a Cp pro. After crashing that a few times, I rebuilt it about 10 times and after that, I was hooked.. I purchased a DX7 for the cp pro then started reading about all this stuff and after some help from you guys here, I started buying real birds..

I started with a CP when they first came out... then a T450se... and then the Hurricane.
The Hurricane is pretty much all I fly these days.
I never liked the CP... still like the 450... but I love the Hurricane. It makes me a better pilot.
I also have a T600n that I recently got... and I haven't flown it much (been cold here)... but with what little I have flown it... so far I still like the Hurricane the best.
When you start flying... your Hurri is going to be the easiest to learn on, closely followed by your 600... but the Hurri will be cheaper to crash ;)

I actually just ordered another hurri.. I decided to build one as a basic model to practice on and the other will be a highly 3d capable bird.. I will take my time to build the new one. By then, i should have enough practice with the Hurri i have now and the 450.

"Smart Move".....the basic kit is a good flyer and you won't have to worry about expensive parts for CF and such. Then when your ready you can fly the 3D model.
I'll most likely never get to hard core 3d...just loops and rolls and such, but I also bought the CF version when on sale...couldn't resist a Christmas present to myself.. But I won't fly it until I'm really comfortable with the basic model...
I di get metal grips and CF blades and CNC elev, but that's about all I'll upgrade on this one.

Of course I bought a basic kit. Then I was in Hong Kong and a CF frame and CNC head followed me home. I have thought about buying the parts to make the left over parts into a second heli.
And I may do that when I upgrade the motor. The left over parts, at that point, but be most of a heli. :)

Was it much cheaper in HK or just able to "touch & feel" it & HAD to have it?

the problem is that, almost all of the other things needed (motor, esc, bec, gyro/servos ect) are gifts. i'm not going to start the build until i have a day where a can focus on building the 550, and only building the 550. i'll probly start around 6am xmas morning and hopefully will maiden it that evening. we'll have to see how it goes, the last arf supposed 4 hour build took a week, but that was my first real heli. at least this time, i know how to mechanically set up a heli perfectly. no guess work, or trial and error. stupid question, but humor me please. when hooking up the two lipos with the series connector, do i plug in both lipos first and then the series connector into the esc, or series into esc first and then the lipos one at a time? like i said, dumb question but i'd rather be safe then sorry.

I leave my series lead connected permanently and then plug the lipos into the lead

so i don't need to worry about plugging in one pack, and the esc only getting half the voltage between then and the 1/2 a second it takes to plug in the other one? i figured that but didn't want to risk anything.

A bit of a deal standing there paying cash. But the big thing was having it in my hands going, WOW. :)
As for the series setup, I wired the series connection right into the ESC, so no adapter (and only uses two Deans, rather than 4).. No problem with hooking up one battery, as the is no complete connection since the one lead is open where the other pack will connect.

doh! i should have known that. i like the idea of having the series connection soldered into the esc. got a pic? i might have to do that, less of a wiring mess.

If you look at this piccie (that someone :YeaBaby: posted in another thread) just replace the bottom red and black cables going to the female Deans with the red and black going to your ESC then that would do it.

now remember, everyone hates a smartass. just kidding. that is pretty much what i figured, but me assuming things has gotten me into trouble before, so some clarification is always good. also, somone have a pic of a parallel connector? i've got two TP 11.1v 1320's that are too light to use on my mx450, nose too light. if i parallel these i'll get one 2640mah and the weight would be better too. i've seen pics on towerhobbies website, but i can't see what connection goes where. a pic of a homemade deans ultra parallel would be sweet.

Pretty straightforward for a parallel - both +ve from the packs to the +ve on the ESC and both -ves to the -ve...

shows it pretty well.
