View Full Version : How Do You Set Up Negative Pitch in a DX7

I am setting up my DX7 for my TREX 450 and can not get the pitch settings to go negative. I have set the pitch settings (in the radio) as called for in the TREX manual but it seems I would need a negative number in the radio and it only goes from 0 to 150%. I am a noobee so I feel that I just don't understand the system yet. Can someone explain this to me??? Also I set up my DX7 to work with my CX2 and I noticed the rudder trims were way off until I finally got them adjusted in the 3 in 1 unit. Is this normal. Still don't have a real stable hoover. Is this normal when you swap transmitters. Whew ... this is a lot to learn. I have a sim (Real Flight 3.5) and spend a lot of time on it. Can hover the TREX in the sim so I am looking forward to getting it set up also. Used to fly planks but Heli's are more interesting because of all the setup and not everyone can fly one..
Thanks in advance

Sounds like you're trying to use end points/ATV to set up swash travel.
Ignore the manual. Watch Finless's videos on CCPM setup and also Jermo's DX7 video. They will give you all the info you need to get it sorted.
Here's some links so you don't have to search:
CCPM1 Video (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/trex450&filename=CCPM_Part_1.wmv)
CCPM2 Video (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/trex450&filename=CCPM_Part_2.wmv)
Jermo's DX7 Setup Video (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/generic&filename=dx7v3.wmv)
That'll get you started.
Good luck!

I can understand your confusion. In modern radios, 50% is midstick or zero pitch. It is not 0%. 0% is maximum negative pitch while 100% is maximum positive pitch.
Normal pitch curve is typically 40-45-50-75-100. The value below 50% is what gives you 1-2 degrees negative pitch. Typical stunt mode curve is 0-25-50-75-100. This gives you maximum negative and positive pitch.
